But as far as the predictably false part... it seemed to work really well over at CFC. The outbursts of emotion showed how much some of them believed it.

The joke in itself was a bit too obvious, and it would have likely flopped on 'Poly alone (though Sloww's reaction was great in its own right)

But CFC's reaction made it priceless. The mod-backed insurgency was great, and the seething by ordinary posters was amazing

Also, quite a bit of effort was made in this joke, which deserves some kudos

But you're right, most people who saw the news thought that it had to be a joke. When I saw the "news" I didn't know it was April 1, but as soon as I saw it I checked the date as this couldn't be real
