I forgot to install that on my new computer. I remember hearing that they'd gotten it to run on some video cards - do you know which ones are supported?

They need an option for it to use both cores only in screensaver mode, though - right now it's using one of the cores at 100%.

Doues this stuff distribute tasks properly IE my machine is not folding the same sh!t as some guy in Montana? That would be inefficient.

Yes, all of the information is released publicly as well.

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ab...viewAboutUs.do
World Community Grid is making technology available only to public and not-for-profit organizations to use in humanitarian research that might otherwise not be completed due to the high cost of the computer infrastructure required in the absence of a public grid. As part of our commitment to advancing human welfare, all results will be in the public domain and made public to the global research community.

If it's not dual core, then why does my system look like this?

If it's not dual core, then why does my system look like this? That's because there's a "virtual" core on your processor, it's still only 1 core.

Unless it's a Pentium D, not a Pentium 4.

Yes, I was right and Laurentius was wrong. I recall. His laptop died not too long after I criticized it for being too hot to be reliable.

I'm adding a p4 3.60 GHz. It should be better than the laptop I used back in 2004, which became unstable shortly after an intensive use of WCgrid (as a dell laptop, it had a natural tendency to overheat).

I hope WCgrid won't fragilize the desktop I'm using now.

I hope so. I was inactive for about a year and re-started again also. But I have a lowly Athlon 64 3200+.

I've had my family's desktop on for about 18 months now I guess... doesn't seem that long though. I just added my laptop today, now that I've been keeping it on in one place most of the time.

Everyone should do this.
