Because my internet is Extreme speed.
Because my digital cable includes every SD and HD channel in the lineup, including about 70 channels dedicated to NHL Centre Ice (every NHL game), NFL Sunday Ticket (every NFL game), MLB Extra Innings (every MLB game), NASCAR In-Car (every NASCAR race), NBA League Pass (every NBA game), OHL Action Pack (many OHL games), and US & College Football (many games). Many of those in HD. Also all of the movie channels, the HD on demand channels, etc.

Not sure what I pay for on phone since the wife pays that bill, but my COMCAST bill for broadband and cable is almost 180. This is their deluxe (all channels but playboy) package, digital, HD, and includes a dvr option, with a few extra boxes. It seems high since the internet portion is only 45.

The 140 includes the HDTV Tier and the PVR. But I can get most of that stuff free OTA.

That's just the thing. You could probably spend all day every day watching Blu-Ray and HD-DVD movies from Netflix or zip.ca. Only $24/mo. Given this, why should I spend $65 on cable?

Sport does seem to be damn expensive from these providers...fortunately I am not a sports fan but I would probably want some good films in my selection...

Damn, broadband is expensive in the states (and Canada)

In Sweden you can get 28 Mbits (1 down...) for $28/month...

I pay $50 for my triple (2 Mbit broadband, 15 channels digital TV and free phone)

And like I said, I'm shooting for less than $50 for my homegrown triple-play, including 10 mbits down. 10 or so channels in high definition.

So basically, you just want to pay for an internet connection. What's the point of this thread?

I pay about $100 for cable and internet in a package. Every time the package runs out I keep getting them to give me a deal. Right now it's getting the DVR and movie channels for free. I pay $40 for my cell phone and don't have a land line.

This is not illegal in Canada, and there's no bandwidth issues. I let other people do the heavy lifting and just pull stuff off the local network. 10MB/s FTW.
