Indeed. We should honour our viking heritage and raid the Bretagne for women and spoils Valentines Day is for pussies who can't hold their mead and who have given up on Thor and Odin

Sounds good.

Especially for roses, which are either sold out completely, or priced at 3-4 times their normal rate.

And Valentine's Day is becoming quite dominant in various types of advertising also around this time. I think it's downright stupid that people are buying into these outside trends, instead of sticking to and cultivating our own traditions. Maybe that's just in up in the country where you live down here I haven't seen any sign of it, nor have I heard anybody mention it
Before I saw this thread I didn't even know what time of the year it was

I can't comment on the advertising part though, as I haven't seen any advertising for a very long time

In one period of my life, I had a string of girl friends break up with me right before Valentines Day -- but after I'd already bought their presents. I'd spend Valentine's Day alone and miserable. Afterwards, we'd make up. I'd give them their presents because y'know, it was their present. They wouldn't have one for me...because, y'know, we were broken up on Valentines Day. Then, after they gotten their presents, they'd break up with me for good.

This happened several years in a row. I began to wonder if this weren't some psychotic woman's plan to get free presents out of me.

Now, they're preying on Lorizael.

Corporate conspiracy.

I'm actually a fairly romantic guy, but prefer to celebrate anniversaries unique to my wife and I (not only wedding, but things like the anniversary of a first date) rather than feel compelled to participate in a mass acknowledgement of my most personal relationship.
