Meanwhile, the gay-friendly mayor of San Francisco has adopted the Mel Gibson defense for his recently-exposed adultery by checking into rehab for alcohol abuse. Truly a banner day for the hetero lobby.

Foley had to resign, though. Newsom won't have to because he's a Dem. Of course, Dems are socially more liberal especially in SF... Rudy was cheating on his wife and in NY that wasn't enough to drive him from office. Even Newt was cheating on his wife and that didn't get him out of Congress. Hell, people in Mass. re-elected Gerry Studds and Barney Frank after they got caught. You seem to think thats a double standard, it isn't. The GOP is the family values party and with it goes a responsibility - to practice what you preach. If liberals dont get too mad at this kind of stuff, thats not hypocrisy because they dont preach against the stuff to begin with.
That was Ann Coulter's point about how liberals avoid the charge of hypocrisy by approving or condoning everything. Of course that aint true, liberals just happen to get mad at people for violating a different set of values. Of course the Dem response in Congress to Foley was political, right before an election a member of the opposing party is discovered using the House page program for sexual adventures and his party was snoozing. So his party told him to resign, not the Dems. |
