Form Wikipedia:
The war began when Iraq invaded Iran on 22 September 1980 following a long history of border disputes and demands for the overthrow of Saddam Hussein's regime. The conflict saw early successes by the Iraqis, but before long they were repelled and the conflict stabilized into a long war of attrition. |

Because formenting political dissent inside of your neighbor is NOT beginning a war. One would think that frequent border clashes happening at Iran's instigation or the fact that Iraq didn't seek to take advantage of the chaos of the revolution in '79 to reverse the concessions he was forced to make in '75 would tend to underscore who was to blame for the war. ![]() |

I though better of you Dino ![]() |

Just out of curiosity.... Can anyone tell me the last time Iran/Persia invaded one of its neighbors. There was the Iran-Iraq War, but Hussein started that. MY point is, as far as I can recall, Iran has historically been a relatively pacific neighbor. That's because Iran has been a weak neighbour for most of the past several centuries. |
