Wtf? How hard is it to just toss a cig out the window, or smash it into an ashtray? What a waste of ink this law was...

Smokers are too stupid/hopelessly addicted that somebody has to do it for them...

Arkansas just passed a similar law, banning smoking in a vehicle in which a child under 6 and under 60 lbs is in a car seat.

I never smoked in the car when my daughter was young. I rarely do now that she's older except for one every now and then on a long trip.

Another case of the minority/majority giving the rest a bad name.

Yes, I'm usually careful about where I dispose my butts, but with the recent ban in Chicago we've been forced to move to certain places to smoke out doors, but in their infinite wisdom, they just removed the asstrays from the illegal spots instead of moving them 10 feet to where people can now smoke. Quite stupid. To compound their stupidity, in response to people having no place to put their butts, they've hired people to sweep them up instead of just taking the ash trays that they removed and relocating them. So now, I just drop it there for the guy to pick up. It's just stupid. When they put the ash trays back out, (in some places they've now figured it out) I'll start using them.

Already happened and likely to happen many more times.

Damn good thing that I have a sense of humor.

I'm all for heavy taxing, and gradual ban of tobacco from public life, and public health.

Heavy taxes only work to a certain point. When you go too far the black market kicks in. I haven't paid a dime in cigarette taxes for about 2-3 years now.

I am usually condsiderate to my kids if they ask me not to smoke in the car i wont, just as i dont allow them to sit in the front seat, even if they ask. My oldest is 16 almost the size of a grown man at 6 3 250 lbs i still make him sit in the back so he will not be hurt by the airbag. My kids are all old enough to ask me not to smoke in front of them and i listen when they ask.
I was saying that if i did and they havent asked me to not smoke the windows are always down.
Back to the throwing butts out the window i wont do if for reason i already said but its also a very dangerous habit. Especially in texas when the grass on the side of the road is dry, fires and all

Once again. Arkansas did this last year. Anyone who smokes in the car with a child who is required to have a safety booster seat (under six years or sixty pounds) gets a $200 fine, IIRC.
