The no longer practice communism except at the collective farms and state owned industries which make up something like 40% of the total Chinese economy. They are trying to slowly get rid of that sector tough since its a big money loser.
The organization is still named the Chinese Communist Party and they still run 100% of Chinese politics even if they no longer act like communists. |

Not true. First of all the business is called socialism with chinese characteristics, which means they're all for making money and profit, but they also want to put their stamp of approval. Second of all, of course they run the politics, the party is quite big. And the party itself has several different schools of thought, some of which are as far from communism as it can get... well not literally but still. I think it's a better sign. Sure, it's whitewashing, but hey, better to have colorful pictures of economy than black and white pictures of Mao and the need to praise his ass. |

Well, you're Chinese has been corrected a few times here, so you really shouldn't critcize, especially with nothing to base it on other than you don't like what you see. But it's the next trend in China. You'll like it eventually. You have to, it's China! ![]() |

Also, I have had some conversations with people about the need to study history anyway. Yeah, most americans don't know what Pearl Harbor was December 7, 1941 and that World War II ended in 1945, but why's it matter? I had a bit of a hard time convincing people that it did... Corrected ![]() |
