In Russia though there is a very lively tradition of Orthodox folk songs accompanied by guitar.
You could try this if you like:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrHEmn4LMzA&NR=1 But everything's in Russian of course! In Christ- Fr Raphael |

Great thank you Fr.Raphael and Eric.
I understand that Gregorian/Orthodox chants are sung alone, perhaps I didnt quite make myself clear. But Father Raphael has cleared that up for me, they are in russian but my wife knows russian so I'll get her to translate it and see how it sounds. Thank you so much and have a happy and Holy Easter Pax Christi/Thoxa sto Christo Kelil |

There are some Greek Orthodox music groups, which sing original music, but probably church music too, one of which consists of monks. There are other people setting the hymns to guitar in America, for listening. It has to be better for someone's soul than some rock music I have heard, and will probably be beautiful. I hope you get to visit the Orthodox churches in person to hear the music there. It is lovely when you attend enough services where some of the music seems to sink in on its own, and you can hear it in your mind, and even sing along. This gives a peaceful feeling, and it might help you create the right atmosphere with your guitar settings.
