Default Reconstruction of Constantinople before the 4th crusade
I thought some members might be interested in this (tentative) reconstruction of Constantinople just before its sack by the 4th crusade.

Absolutely fascinating!

How did you find such a web site?

There were several pictures from it in my Old Church Slavonic textbook, including the Magnaura where the Imperial University was based. I just decided to check it out.

This is quite a remarkable web site. Does anyone know who has done it? There is an introductory text, written in the first-person, that talks about persons consulted in development; but the 'I' of the text wasn't clear to me. Do we know who the author of this work is?

Fr. Deacon Matthew,

the "Support Us" page indicates the following "sponsors":
  • Albrecht Berger, with his expertize.
  • Jan Kostenec, with his ideas on the Great Palace.
  • Patrick Clifford
This page http://www.byzantium1200.com/introduction.html has some info too, but it is still not clear to me who the "head" of the project is.

Best wishes,

Mary

I'm not sure, but there seem to be a few news reports about the project which mention Tayfun Öner.
