Default Have you ever had a Tarot card reading?
If so, were you impressed by the tarot reading? Why or why not? Do you believe there is something mystical about Tarot cards?

No, I have not. Though I think it would be a very interesting experience. I haven't because I have never really been near / around those sorts of shops and paying money for something I don't really believe in just out of curiosity seems a bit silly to me.

Never done the tarot cards thing, but I did have my palm read once. Didn't really believe in that shit until that, and now I don't know what to believe. When someone can see things you've never let a living soul know, you tend to get a little freaked out. Funny thing was my "dark aura" as she put it must have really freaked her out as well. She went kinda pale after the experience. She predicted some stuff. A lot of which did happen. I don't really know if I believe in it or not. But I do believe most of them, if not all of them, are scammers.

I've actually done tarot readings for others, because i think it 's kind of cool, but it works the same way horoscopes do - theyre general enough that you can pick up points that apply to you and think they're legit.

I used to like horoscopes until they started reminding me of bad chain letters.

When you think about it, Tarot cards, Horoscopes, they are all to vague, and could apply to anyone, so I try not to get sucked up into that stuff

I got into doing Tarot readings when I realized I had lost faith in the religion that was instilled in me from birth in an attempt to find a greater meaning for life.

That was moronic, but I was 15, so what can you expect?

I got back into it in 2010. It's a sweeping generalization to claim that all readings are vague enough to apply to anyone and it creates a stigma that surrounds the act of fortune telling.

Tarot is, by nature, vague. It's supposed to be. The reader isn't supposed to have any knowledge of the one they are reading. The cards represent certain actions or events and they are placed in (what most people call) a cross. Different positions on the cross can mean different things, for example, a Death card on the far left could mean that the person had to overcome significant changes to be where they are now. However, the same card on the far right could mean that significant changes are headed their way.

It really is all about the reader and their synergy with their cards. I remember once I did a reading for a friend of a friend and the exact same cards appeared in the exact same positions three times in a row.

Just like with religion, fortune telling fails if there is no faith. I, on the other hand, believe that Tarot offers an answer in a very unique way.

And just like religion has no real backing, it's something to make you feel better and you can get enjoyment out of, but should not dictate life, decisions, or expect it to accurately dictate reality or provide a course of action

Of course not. That would be absurd.

Obv. a bit late, but I'd always heard that Aleister Crowley had designed a spread that is rumored to have been so accurate as to practically spell out a response word for word. Never found out though, sadly.

I have been in the company of those who work with the cards, some have read me before. What I will say, believe in their power or not you may take the messages or symbolism as a means of gaining insight - perhaps suggesting that you take a look at something from a different angle. Also, I am learning the cards myself and slowly becoming confident in reading others (Using the Rider Waite deck, though may use the Thoth deck in the future.)
