That I have been working on for a couple months is a tech support website. Probably utilizing a forum as the main focus and using other resources like a wiki, or article cms to provide howtos, hardware info, software reviews etc. I know these kind of sites have been done to death but I'm psyched about doing one. Here's a list of my ideas so far, not exactly complete or comprehensive, I haven't had a lot of time to throw at it just yet:
Forum Software: phpBB3 (Not much is as flexible) Wiki: Probably Mediawiki. Obv things: php, MySQL, etc. (This part included because I might say fu webhosts and host it myself when we get our internet upgraded; which means I might want to think about something like hamachi.) Any other cool gizmos, gadgets, codes, or software (free is preferable) that I should keep in mind? I'm open to suggestions. I'm doing this partly for two reasons 1) it has always been a dream of mine since I was a young geek and 2) It's a great way to learn more about php coding, which I'm still sort of new at. |
