When I was learning how to be a US Navy Corpsman,we had some classes about insect/snake bites.The only thing I remember is that the "Bite" of the "Black Widow Spider" can cause a "Priapism"!(Erection lasting hours,or days!) This becomes "Painful"after 3 to 4 hours,and the blood can "clot" in the penis,meaning possible,(The "A" word!) Until the availability of "Viagra",I always carried several live "Black Widow Spiders" in a test tube in my wallet,just in case!I remember once in Paris,when I paid a lovely prostitute 1000 Francs for her sevices,but I could not get an erection. I can't think of a North American news source reporting on this or if they did that they'd use the poor sap's actual name. He'll have the nickname "boner" until he's 80.

This tiny risk is the #1 reason I haven't even tried Viagra or Cialis (not that I need it but it is an interesting concept to see what it does). Especially in the DR, even with good clinics, etc.
