If you want to discuss the potential war issue and how it "directly" relates to Dominicans, do it in another thread! OK Robert, you win. I may start one on golo's depiction of Dominican NGOs, an area that I am probably better qualified to comment on than most. But in the meantime, I have to go shopping.
How about 'bored housewife' for a tag line? Chiri |

While the statue and the war are two different issues, it would not be irrelevant to discuss the war in its right perspective.
The only reason our Dominican peaceniks headed by Father Rogelio, got involved in this anti-war demonstration was the typical Dominican copycat attitude of following the idiots who gave the green light for these worldwide activity, namely the French and the Germans. "Retreat" seems to be the most popular word for the French. How soon they forgot the 10,000 Americans who died in Normandy and the close to 150,000 who died trying to save their mediocre city of Paris, which cannot even produce famous painters anymore and their cars are useless. How soon do we forget how the big stuffy nose De Gaulle chickened out of NATO scared of the Russians. Who took the Berlin Wall down? Wasn't it Reagan all by himself? Now we have these Dominican "botellas" who do nothing but live off foundations and NGO's, which are vastly supported by Uncle Sam turning their back on their paycheck masters. I have yet to see Father Rogelio turn down help from the U.S. Embassy. And when disaster strikes every July to November the first C-130 cargo planes who arrive with food are those from the White House. No wonder we have stutues built for anti-heroes and corrupted governments. It is the same turncoats and lambones who participated in this march on Sunday. But who cares anyway. Big George is going to have his day. And the turncoats are beginning to backpedal. Because nothing gets people's attention more than telling them the truth. And Boy George is beginning to call his IOW's and calling them by the right name. It's time to put up or shut up. They should learn the lesson of a good ally, when the U.S. backed Britain all the way in Argentina, in spite of going against an American region nation, but when the chips were down, almost every Latin nation backed the U.S.A. I think what scares these people, in addition to being scared of hooded desert rats who do not show their women's legs and cleavage, is that their oil is going to get expensive. But I rather have the oil controlled by Uncle Sam than by Saddam any day. TW |

Rising on the wings of a doomed horse. Now that is completely appropiate for our favorite farmer-camposino. Had they deliberatly planned it I doubt they could have been so dead on the money.
Golo/TW, for once I am in complete agreement with you regarding this rather pretentious display of bad taste and even more so in agreement with your assessment of the Europeans who have managed to somehow forget the tumultous events and the help rendered by the evil American people during the last 100 years in Europe: two world wars, feeding the people of Berlin and the Cold War, formation of NATO and the economic rebuilding (Marshall Plan) of Europe with all the later-forgiven loans. Also, let's not forget the subsequent US involvement in Vietnam which was the direct result of us bailing the French out at Diem Bien Phu. I have probably forgotten much more. I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that if France and Germany get into deep **** again that we should let them wallow in it and turn our backs on them as they have done to us. |

Maybe since this event took place on Sunday and lots of people missed it, we should ask Robert to post the color picture shown by Periodico Hoy in full color of the winged Pegasus with Hippo in his chacabana.
What the air force lambones who created this grotesquerie didn't think about was the fate of the original Pegasus and its rider. Hippo will end up the same way, in a galactic fire billions of light years in a lost star. TW |

Pathetic. Someone please throw a cinder block at that symbol of abject stupidity. I now formally request a US invasion.
They are not hiding the incest. The military is thanking Hippo for all the loot....at your expense, of course. So as you pay NYC prices for your everyday items...let that statue remind you where ur money has gone......so all you people don't just sit there quietly and take it up the arse....go do something about it! |
