I would get an SUV, Toyota Highlander 2010, for example. I have never had an SUV before. It would be interesting to try it out.

You specified 4 wheels, right? Here has been my dream for 10 years:

(The Dodge Tomahawk had Viper V-10 engine with a theoretical top speed of about 400 mph, but that was just a fantasy vehicle, so scratch that)

Now that's a truck. Get out the way jerks!!

As long as the topic of classic cars has been broached, give me an old Chevelle SS. Talk about speed.

All of them from that era were quick.

Look at Racer x's Cyclone.

The cars were all engine.... not very good at curves or braking.

If you can get the HD Channel, watch for the Mecum Auction.
It shows usually on weekends, muscle cars abound and the prices will tempt you.

If we are going to talk concept cars, my vote is for the VW GX-3.

My other choice would be the car from the opening from the old Prisoner series, but with the steering wheel on the left side. It was a Lotus Seven:

I've had Jeeps almost all my adult life. My last Wranger, I had for 17 years, and sold it for almost what I paid for it. I only wish it would have had a hardtop, so the A/C would have worked better. They're almost as maneuverable as a Volkswagon beetle.

I've got a Land Rover TD5 now, which is the same underneath as the Defender, but more luxurious. (no automatics in Defenders either, a standard in this city is insane)

Land Rover is the way to go. They are built like tanks underneath.

Yes indeed..

I'm thinking about moving up to an LR3 diesel, but the jury is still out on that.

The Series II Discovery is really a great little truck, and gets excellent mileage out of the 5 cylinder diesel.

IMO, the best vehicle, overall, for the terrain of the DR is one with a real frame and not unibody construction. Look around. Old trucks with frames are still running, whereas the unibody vehicles end up saggy all over and eventually become unrepairable: drivetrains don't sit right, suspensions don't sit right, dorrs, hoods and trunks don't fit right...and squeaks galore.

That cute little urban econo-sabot will get beat to a pulp faster than a framed vehicle. The bad roads and potholes eventually weaken the welds causing fatigue sag.

I have one also, but with the v8 4.6 , i have it with huge steel bumpers and a 2" lift ...

I'm thinking about the lr3 tdv6 also but i don't want to drop the solid axle set up.

My brother had a Lotus 7 once and he lent it to me for 4/5 days. Boy was I glad to finish with it, I have never in my life, before or since driven a car where I had to change gear quite so many times. a trip from Dorset to London in the 60's left me exhausted with my left arm (RHD) painful for hours. My brother got rid of it soon!

A Maserati Gibli from the mid '80s would be nice.
They look like a family saloon car but drive like an Aston martin.

Nothing has changed since then...... the current QuattroPorte is a full sized car that will eliminate most other cars on the street/highway.

BTW, those who might be able to compete do not carry four full sized passengers.

The QP is the best blend of performance, style and comfort.
Its owners have sworn off Astons in favor of it.

Maserati has been winning races before Enzo built his first car.

The engine and transmission are indestructible... endurance personified.

A wolf in sheep's clothing..... the Ghibli is beautiful, so is the QP
