You specified 4 wheels, right? Here has been my dream for 10 years: ![]() My other choice would be the car from the opening from the old Prisoner series, but with the steering wheel on the left side. It was a Lotus Seven: ![]() |

I've had Jeeps almost all my adult life. My last Wranger, I had for 17 years, and sold it for almost what I paid for it. I only wish it would have had a hardtop, so the A/C would have worked better. They're almost as maneuverable as a Volkswagon beetle.
I've got a Land Rover TD5 now, which is the same underneath as the Defender, but more luxurious. (no automatics in Defenders either, a standard in this city is insane) Land Rover is the way to go. They are built like tanks underneath. |

IMO, the best vehicle, overall, for the terrain of the DR is one with a real frame and not unibody construction. Look around. Old trucks with frames are still running, whereas the unibody vehicles end up saggy all over and eventually become unrepairable: drivetrains don't sit right, suspensions don't sit right, dorrs, hoods and trunks don't fit right...and squeaks galore.
That cute little urban econo-sabot will get beat to a pulp faster than a framed vehicle. The bad roads and potholes eventually weaken the welds causing fatigue sag. |

for me...... 79 F250 4X4, 390 engine.....4 inch frame & 6 inch body lift, 36" tires, bug huge front bumper that would scare the @###@ outta these guaga drivers....cruise good on highway and if necessary, climb a tree....also known as the Canyonairo...oh if gas isn't a problem then add an 871 blower on that puppy and Hammerdown.....

My brother had a Lotus 7 once and he lent it to me for 4/5 days. Boy was I glad to finish with it, I have never in my life, before or since driven a car where I had to change gear quite so many times. a trip from Dorset to London in the 60's left me exhausted with my left arm (RHD) painful for hours. My brother got rid of it soon!

A Maserati Gibli from the mid '80s would be nice. BTW, those who might be able to compete do not carry four full sized passengers. The QP is the best blend of performance, style and comfort. Its owners have sworn off Astons in favor of it. Maserati has been winning races before Enzo built his first car. The engine and transmission are indestructible... endurance personified. A wolf in sheep's clothing..... the Ghibli is beautiful, so is the QP WW |
