Default Tenth West Nile Death Confirmed in Dallas
Dallas County confirms a tenth person has died after contracting the West Nile virus.

Officials say the victim was a woman in her 90s with underlying health problems.

The latest victim lived in zip code 75229.

Due to the spread of the West Nile virus, Dallas will begin aerial sparying on Thursday.

Last week, Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins recommended aerial spraying to help kill the mosquito population that carries the virus.

City leaders in each city and town in Dallas County will make the decision to spray within their communities.

They have been doing some spraying here now, been getting just enough rain so the skeeters can breed. Last year I did not see/hear or feel any, way to hot/dry.

As I've written earlier, I'm not near as tasty to skeeters as I was before I got my VitD levels up where they belong. Now, besides VitD level monitoring, we've become fans of rubbing dryer sheets on our exposed skin, hands, neck, ears, even forehead and cheekbones as a way to discourage mosquitoes.

The folks I played Hold'em with last Friday night asked me if I'd remembered to bring some...we play in their open garage. LOL

And yes, we prefer the non-scented dryer sheets and Helen cuts them up into 6ths or 8ths for the dryer.

Found the tip on Huff-po courtesy of AOL. It was ranked extremely high in a 10 or 15 mosquito discouraging techniques comparison trial recently acc'd to the article.

PS...we had a couple deaths last year, and 4 deaths I think it was the year before. The city keeps talking about making one of the worst "pond scum" offenders put in culverts and drain his swamp-like ditches with all their gorgeous cattails...no go. So we just keep killing off the locals and that jerk keeps bribing or paying off or whatever it is he's doing to keep from being good neighbor. GRRRR

Well the virus is now in my county, it was just one county over from mine. But the wind does blow and those critters do fly.

Put Listerine in a spray bottle, works like a charm.
