Credit cards are classified as unsecured loans for a reason.
Usury is classified as ANY interest. Government has corrupted this word to mean EXCESSIVE interest. Usury is a crime (in it's original definition). Any contract based upon a criminal act is null and void. Your perception plays a large part in your actions. That is why words change meanings in society, in order to change what you view as "acceptable". Establish a policy based upon your own lexicon and don't deviate. |

With this fake-it-til-you-make-it mentality of people using credit cards to sustain their lifestyles combined with people using their credit cards for post job loss survival, $10k isn't a whole lot and 25% interest is unfortunately pretty standard these days with a lot of cards going to 29.99%. The point is that the credit card bubble is unsustainable. It will come crashing down eventually as people stop paying en masse.

the Usurer's do respond to Righteous Yelling - sometimes.
i transferred an Amex payment to one of their new deals, "Pay over Time". i asked questions for about 15 minutes before signing up. i used a $1000 PM purchase as my "guinea pig". they jacked up the interest payments in the second months' bill. i was ready to cancel the whole Shebang & it was going into April, when my card renews. the Amex Worker Bee #1 credited me about $10 for one month. i asked for their supervisor & explained that i was calling to cancel my card. Amex Worker Bee #1 credited me about $15 for the second month. at that time i had dropped a check in the mail to pay off the whole thing. at the time i had 'righteous indignation' going for me. i might call back a 3rd time and fake it, & ask for a credit for the interest payment that will show up on the incoming bill. but yes, all their bullshit is covered in the fine print. you have to REALLY dot the i's & cross the t's, call & make sure they got payments, etc. i also suggest using credit card companies that are publicly held. that way if they screw with you you can use the Yahoo Message Board to air the dirty laundry. e.g. if they are engaged in loan fraud, report them to the FTC, then report the affair on Yahoo Message Board. this often gets you into the CEO's office where they assign a staffer to make you go away. usually by acceding to your often very minimal demands. PS don't even bother having a credit card with BofA. even if you try and do all the right things - e.g. pay in full on time - they will slam you with fees & insist they have the right to do so. |

You could only owe $3k and only have a 10% interest rate and STILL never pay it off.....
Lets look at the Federal reserves site: http://www.federalreserve.gov/creditcardcalculator/ Amount owed: $3000 Interest: 10% Min Payment: $60 Time to pay off: 13 years Additional Interest: $1728 Im n ot sure the average person even understands what they have gotten themselves into. Usury is a CRIMINAL act. But voluntary servitude isnt. And if you double your monthly payment to say $120 (in this example) you would then pay off that same $3000 in 2 years, and only pay $379 in interest. |
