I drove my mom down to wally world last night. I guess they had a bunch of sales that started at 10:00 pm. So they left pallets of the stuff shrink wrapped and the products couldn't even ring up until after 10:00 pm. Anyway, got there at 9:30ish. The parking lot was almost full at that time.
I dropped her out front and parked at one of the very back corners and waited. 5 minutes later the lot was full and with in 10 more minutes a side lot for another little strip mall was filled (maybe 50 vehicles). So mom said that people were shopping together in teams. One person stood at one pallet to get the allotment of that item while everyone else waited at separate pallets of goodies. I guess, once the store said "unwrap" it was mayhem, plastic everywhere. Asses to elbows in the aisles. It was insane quite a spectacle in itself just in the parking lot. Hooray for wally world for instituting their own in store panics. |

It almost seems like they are trying to invoke riots. When I was a kid I looked forward to going Black Friday shopping with my mom. The stores would be busy but there was none of the 4AM openings and just craziness. I can't imagine the mindset of brawling to get an item. Buy it another day or at another store or online. It is a glimpse of what things will look like when government benefits are cut.

What I think is crazy . . . is that this piece of crap that they just fought over . . . will be ignored and in a cupboard somewhere two months from now. Most kitchen gadgets are ignored shortly after purchase, whether they cost $40 or $2. It's sad that people will give up their dignity and humanity for something so stupid.

I can't wait till they do a Black Friday at the Milsurp store or Ammo shop Here's the kicker. Gander was in a city (for around here) of 150,000. The wally world was in a town of maybe 10,000. Gander had 1000 rounds of American Eagle 223 fmj in an ammo can (white and black boxes inside the can) for 300. Not a bad price for cash n carry. don't remember the price on 5.56. 5056 was only in 500 round cans. |

The Materialism is sickening. All that was over saving $5-$10, if one has to behave in such a way over that kind of money then one shouldn't be buying ANYHING for anyone for Christmas. The degeneration of this holiday has to be one of the most disgusting things that I have seen, and people seem to love it and consider me a grinch when I speak negatively about the rampant consumerism. "Oh, you don't want a 42" 1080p T.V. for $400?!" I always lose any hope that I had left for my fellow Americans at this time.
