Propaganda: Your Job in Germany
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1v5QCGqDYGo
Directed by It's A Wonderful Life's Frank Capra and written by Theodor "Dr. Seuss" Geisel, produced by the United States Information & Education Division of the Army Services Forces in 1946, this authentic film proposes, "War with Germany ends in victory, victory leads to peace ... Sometimes ... Sometimes not."

The 'flying bug' in the OP was definitely a spoof. This flying bug is for real and is 100% street legal.

8.6/167 in the quarter mile.

[QUOTE=keehah;481188]Mightymanx , Was that bug race at the Mission Raceway?

The one I posted or the OP

If it is the first one I was At Woodburn Oregon.

That record I think was at SCC Gardermoen Raceway in Oslo.

Mine is the first car shown in the Woodburn video in the near lane. It is a Myers Manx (the original dunebugy)

Holy shit that things quick! I used to run 9.90 with a 78 Regal, had new motor but ran out of funds, was expected 8.40-8.60

I love those things. I never even made the connection with your screen name.

Every couple months I browse the kit car web sites down here to see whats what. Donor chassis are pretty hard to come by these days and I think I prefer the LWB anyway. That means a new chassis bascially. Yours looks to be LWB from the vid. Is that right?

How long have you had it and even though I know nothing about engines can you share with us what you are running in it?

OK here are the specs:

(unless you are a VW guy this is probably pure mumbo jumbo)

Weight 1250 with out me
HP 350ish to the wheels depending on boost

Meyers Manx body
Chromoly tube chassis 80" wheel base so stock for the shortened manx (think 4 person golf cart)
VW engine 2275cc 94mmx82mm JE pistons Dyke's z gap rings Cima barrels with Pauter power sleeves.
8.5 to one static compression
Pauter Custom ground cam
VW type 1 case
Comp Eliminator heads with about 5k in porting
Delwest Ti valves
K-motion springs
Scat crank
Intake Holley 850dp Turbonetics T04 turbo 18psi boost on that run can take 24psi
NOS cheater 20hp wet shot to spin the turbo and cool the intake (not currently used)
Strictly Speed Type 1 custom VW trans-axle with timkin pinion bearing mod and 3.88 ring and pinion
Deist parachute (trust me it's needed with 80" wheelbase and about 145 mph.
Custom Wheelie bars (yes it lifts the wheels in all 4 gears)

Car with previous owner has done 9.01 @ 155 mph
Was the feature car in April 2001 VW Trends Magazine

so what is it like driving?
If you have ever seen a funny car in car camera and all the vibration and shit when it is on the run that is what I see my helmet sits directly on the bars and with a wheel base slightly longer than a golf cart you have to drive the shit out of it. So it is very fun and always a crowd pleaser.

One thing that always separated me from the main event, I went to have fun, fuk the crowd. If I pulled hard so be it, If I smogged the track down for an hour so be it. Was never about the crowd for me. Was for me and my family (and the video) :-)

one of my dreams it to make a pass in a funny car I have wnated to do that since I was a little kid.

But probaly won't happen I can't run my car anymore sub 10 even if I could afford to run it I can't pass the physical and employment has proved to be quite the chalenge post military. so that is the last thing on the list.

I am quite hunkered down financialy.
I traded stuff for the bike so it is my cheap daily driver with diesel at 4.25 here.
