WHO AM I?
am i jim909, whom some of you know from "wayyyyy-back", or am i just an imposter poster stealing the name? in some of the threads i've read here - while doing my due diligence lurking - it seems that a number of people claim the capability to divine the "real me" (or you) through various snooping/searching techniques. it's easy to get an IP number but then what? ...is access to IP client data that open?... can you really do that? so far that has not been the case, but... my "real" name has been put forth in another forum(s), but that name was not actually mine - i'd surreptitiously appended it to my emails to all of the people that i did not know personally but emailed after internet contact. i try to be careful, but have i failed? so, who am i? supposedly, and respectfully, jim909 |

I wonder if it's the SAME "Jim909" who, years ago, wrote by way of introduction:
[quote]Hello, my name is jim909 and I'm a very shy, humble individual who tries to post only in the best PC fashion. If anything I say may upset you then please know that I feel your pain and empathize with it, and the fact that I ignore it and attack you only means that I |

![]() Hmmmm... For some reason, my post was cut-off mid-quote ![]() Anyway, I also typed that I actually MISSED Jim 909, and that I thought he always added a little chili pepper to an otherwise rather bland stew... and he did it with humor and intellegence. ...but I've been wrong before... ![]() I'm still at the same old email address, Jim.... drop me a line. We got a lot of catchin'-up to do. ![]() |

Ateo:
Yes, I be jim909 in cyberspace since 1997. I’ve never posted on a board with any other passport. I’ve always figured that was a bit ahhhhhh… whatever. I thought about changing my policy and hiding like a rat under a pseudonym for this post, but I decided not to. I am what I am, and will present myself as such in perpetuity and anonymity – I hope. Thank you for your attempt at answering the question. As far as I know, your assessment of the risk of “identity identification” is dead on. So why do so many people claim the ability to search out and identify posters? Not just here, it is a recurrent theme on many boards. Am I missing something? Can anyone tell me who I really am without some serious “push” involved? (money for bribes, connections within law enforcement etc.) I don’t think so, but if I’m wrong I think it important that people know the truth – actually, they need to know the truth whether I’m right or wrong. THAT IS WHY I POSTED THIS. ------------------------------------------------------ And of course I was crying for attention according to Princess RK: Say what? I must admit your link is a good one. For any of you that don’t know me please read RK’s link to a thread I was involved in. I’m fine with that as a jim909 sample thread – it was my first on Rom2. What surprises me is why RK would point to that one as a supposed dis to me. Apparently she believes that I’m immoral because I found it idiotic to spend several thousand dollars to surgically stabilize – not repair – a cat’s arse end so that it could then spend a short life as a paraplegic kitty on training wheels - literally, I kiddy you not. (seriously, that’s her position according to her posts.) Gee, forgive me for my immorality and cruelty. But gosh golly RK, how many starving children could be saved with that money? But then, I guess some people believe that cats are more important. Goodness, please forgive my “immoral” attitude in believing that those resources could have been better applied than in creating a rolling catasstrophy. --------------------------------------------------------- dave404: There, does that fit the bill? Relatively nice, with just a bit of a sting. ---------------------------------------------------------- Sin: Yea-ha! Glad to hear your still cooking, thought you’d entered the final bunker in the deep beyond where all bullets are silver and the cross-hairs never waver. Talk’um more later Chemosobie. ![]() |

While I know that I could likely find the location of the computer that sent your message, it would involve asking for "silver bullet" favors from too many folks. A simple "Who Am I?" forum game simply isn't worth it. If you were threating me or mine with some kind of harm, and I thought you seriously had the intent, means and opportunity to carry-out such a threat, yes, I'd have two "suits" in a plain-wrapped Crown Vic sitting a few doors down from your residence.
...or worse, I'd ask "Vito-the-Leg-Breaker" or his buddies to pay you a "social visit". ![]() ![]() ...but playing guessing games on forum boards is a common pastime, as is shape-shifting to other names and personalities. Some take it to extremes [remember "Snarkbird"?] and others do it just to see if they can fool the board, although their writing/thinking "style" [or lack of it] is a dead give-away [Wh00lie, for instance]. Like all frauds, there are undoubtedly some shape-shifters who will never be caught... mostly due to a profound lack of interest in doing so by the other members. Some things simply don't matter. ![]() Myself, I've never yet bothered with any of this on-line schizoid behavior, but who knows?.. someday I might try to see if I can pull it off... if I can figure a way to wean myself away from the "Curse of the Ellipses"... ![]() ![]() |
