Hmmm. I sometimes look in Wiki for a subject I know well, just to see how it checks out. It's very rarely inaccurate. Most instances of serious inaccuracy are the result of sabotage rather than ignorance. In the case you cited, Idnew, that's the first time I've heard of someone losing their job over a false entry - although the entry was libellous.

Hmm. The net is great. We have the technology to communicate so much, yet people haven't evolved from the "writing on bathroom walls" stage.

Wikipedia is a useful resource, but like anything...it's not the single end-all, be-all.

Agreed...

[WHAT?? ...GOOD LORD!!! SIN's AGREEING WITH TIG AND DUCKY?? Somebody check the temperature of hell, I'll bet it's dropping fast!]

Wikipedia is a wonderful idea, but needs some really intense peer-review-type of editing.

You need to look carefully at Wikipedia pages - some topics don't attract many contributors, to put it mildly. However, the fact that you know who said what, can be a definite advantage in some cases.

On the whole, Wikipedia is very useful. Like just about every other collective human endeavour, it's not infallible, but it doesn't yet quite come into the "a giraffe is a racehorse designed by a committee" category.
