Default Point and shoot.
I have an older and not so good camera and I want to get something a little better. Its frustrating to try to post pictures that are fuzzy or too far away to show the bloom well. Does anyone have a suggestion for a point and shoot that will take acceptable close up photos? I don't want to spend a ton of money, I just want to upgrade a little. I'm trying to save for a orchidarium.

I have been qute happy with the Nikon Coolpix point and shoot cameras. I have the S210 which I got for only $150. It likely has been replaced by a newer model, but the Coolpix line is pretty easy to use. Fully automatic, but if you want to tweak your picture taking it has surprisingly good manual controls if you take the time to learn to use them. Check some of my 2010 and 2009 photos posted on Slippertalk to see my results.

It's like an STD. What I have you don't want!

Oh, Eric, ewww, gross analogy.

I have loved my Canon Elph PowerShot SD1000 and have taken the odd good close up photo with it (I think).

But today I went out and bought my first DSLR, a Canon Rebel Xsi and splurged for a 100 mm Macro lens...now I need some photography lessons really bad.

Nikon Coolpix!!!! I don't have my model number, but Nikon does well with macro-shots.

I use a Casio...forget the model...but the latest one was just reviewed by the NY Times (for camera's under $300) and it got an excellent review.

One of my cameras is a Nikon Coolpix. When I purchased it (years ago), I was looking for macro capability as well as the ability to set it for aperture priority. I also wanted RAW file format capability.

I have a Fuji FinePix S700. It's a really nice camera and not too hard to use...has to be that way for me to figure it out.

We use a Kodak EasyShare Z612. It does all the stuff Dot said, I'm just too lazy to figure it out, so we use preset stuff and auto.
