OnMarch 31st, 2005, the Government of Canada will halt the funding and support it has given to the music industry of Canadathrough FACTOR-funded programs. That's a loss of $7.4 million or 64% of FACTOR's operating budget.
In the Canadian music scene, 60% of professional artists have received funding through FACTOR at some point in their careers, including 49% of this year’s Juno Nominees. I've attached more information below, and wondered if you might forward it to the artists on your roster and other industry contacts to help spread the word. Ideally, we would like people to write Ottawa about the positive impact FACTOR has on the Canadian music industry, and what it would mean to have this funding removed. We are also approaching Juno-nominated artists who have received past funding from FACTOR to mention FACTOR in their thank-you speeches and media interviews._ Let’s ensure that the Government hears us and realizes that they should continue the FACTOR funding programs. Please assist us in Saving Canadian Music! Below is more information on this frightening setback._ If you would like more information on FACTOR and its programs please see www.factor.ca or call 416.351.1361. For more information on supporting this venture, or how you can assist in other ways please contact Kat - kat@factor.ca_or visit www.savecanadianmusic.com. |
