i currently use Graboid as my source of movies (pay a subscription). I was wondering if anyone knew of any UK sites that I could get music from?

I've not used it myself but have a friend who uses rapidshare. Says it's the only thing he'd pay for and definitely worth it

Apparentley, if you're caught downloading pirate material in the UK, your internet can be cut off.

It's supposed to 'benefit the artist', which is a load of bollocks - even when you pay for a download, hardly any money goes to the artist. It all goes to the producer / record label.

I've heard about sites that offer free and legal downloads, but I don't believe them.

As far as I know piracy laws in the UK are pretty lax, or at least the investigation side is. I have heard of several cases of people being prosecuted because their pirated files were found by accident but very rarely an actual crackdown on it.

Anyway, DEVILax..

Have you ever tried last.fm?

You don't actually posses any music but build your own 'personal' radio stations through input of bands you like or simple requests such as 'Tracks liked by the band Emerson Lake and Palmer' or 'sounds like The Levellers'

I use it on Ubuntus Rhythmtrack but is accessible through all kinda of Windows, Mac and phone apps too.

Thanks. Will give that a go.

At the moment im making use of DVDVideoSoft's Free Youtube Downloader (music vids/ music) & Free Youtube to MP3 Converter (music)....its very good.

My understanding of the "law" is that paid subscriptions giving you access to DVD/Blu-ray quality video content are legal, but you must only use for personal use, if you sell/broadcast m aterial, or download content recorded illiegally (in a cinema!) this is illegal. I have subscribed to Graboid for over a year (downloading 600GB) of content and have never been "caught" or have ever had my connection "cut-off".

Thanks again peeps

I'm not sure about England, but in The Netherlands you may download anything(except for software and stuff like child pornography).
It's not allowed to share 'illegal' files by showing it to a crowd or uploading it on the web.
However, no individuals will be arrested or something for this, organisations can be though.

Ps. I use VDownloader to download music(with or without video) from youtube.
