This is one thing that has me going back and forth. As i am researching for my parents' next car they want to get a used car but with some sort of warranty or back up. They are highly interested in a Lexus RX which can be bought CPO'ed at the dealer, but also there are some on Carmax just like they want.
Does Carmax offer good coverage? CPO comes with warranty and all the new car buying perks Anybody have personal experience? Feel free to throw in your 2 cents... Player4 |

a friend of mine got a CPO Lexus LX470 back in fall of '03 high school, it was an '02 with mileage on the higher side. after a year of ownership, she ran into a few issues here and there, and Lexus didn't cover anything, they claimed all of the problems she was encountering weren't covered under the CPO warranty. needless to say, her parents were pissed, and they ended up dumping it and picking up a new GS for her instead.

Isnt therealso an optional warranty at Carmax, dubbed MaxCare?
I also saw that a same car with same miles and year seem more expensive through the Lexus CPO that includes warranty and all. Its cheaper at Carmax because it does not include the warranty,i guess once you opt for their warranty it will math the Lexus CPO price. What i like about Carmax, is that you can transfer the cars across the country. I guess we'll have to wait and see There are also other cars my parents have in mind, just to throw them out: New Toyota Venza Hyundai Santa Fe Ford Edge (Im not too sure on this one) Nissan Murano Used Nissan Murano Lexus RX330/RX350 BMW X5 (maybe) Any of you have any other ideas? They dont want domestic, they want something that is luxurious and has decent mpg 17+... willing to spend if used not more than $26k and if new not more than $33. Thx for the info and help guys, im sure it will also help others that have or have had similar questions... |
