now that we know there will probably be a new defender, i set up a little topic to discuss what it will look like. post any pics of what you think the new defender will look like, whether its photoshop, a sketch, or a written description, as long as its a defender.
i didnt know whether to put this in the automotive design section or the industry news/rumors section. if theres a violation of some sort, delete this thread ( or, you could just, move it to another section, either way its fine. ![]() |

I think a new Defender wont come for quite a while yet. Either way, It will probably maintain several elements:
* An independant bonnet * Externally hinged doors. * Stepped roof * Very short front and rear overhangs * Straight, flat body panels, and they will probably retain Birmabright as their main material. Other things will likely dissappear: * 2nd spare wheel on the bonnet * PTO Connection * Narrow windscreen is likely to use the entire front area now. Whatever it is, I feel it will be a conservative evolution, mainly focusing on getting airbags and other such nonsense. I dont think It will even have the twin headlamps from all other Land Rovers. I do think they'll do significant work to make it more refined - a deeper dashboard, slightly curved windshield, now automatic transmissions (As well as manual) and significant work inside and in the structure, to "Improve safety" I Think things like Automatic transmission will be first tried out on this model. It's likely coming as soon as next year I reckon. |
