Default Apple video game console?
How long do you think Apple will come out with it's own video game console? 2 years? 5years?
And do you think it will loose $100-$150 per console like the PS3 and XBOX?
PS3 uses BD disks, XBOX uses HD-DVDs and Wii uses single sayer DVD's. I wonder what Apple would use.

After the Pippin, I doubt there would be another Apple console.
Even if there was one, game sales would be via the iTunes store.

PipPin=junk
It was somewhere between a fat PDA and 2nd rate games.
I have a funny feeling they might introduce something in the near future.

If they used an optical format it would be BluRay. Apple has shown no support for HD-DVD, and in fact, Apple computers will soon receive BluRay drives. I don't think Apple will enter that segment however. If they do choose to support games in some form, it will be through the next-gen AppleTV.

I'm thinking the same thing on Apple TV. Something more interactive. But Blue-Ray? Hmm.

Yeah. As vain and stupid as it sounds, I think Apple likes the marketability of Blu-Ray better than HD-DVD. There's just a nice ring to it that HD-DVD doesn't have.

Steve doesn't think that games are 'cool'.
He'd rather you use your Mac for creating wesites/blogs, editing photos/movies, creating and downloading music and surfing the internet.
Games? How uncool are they?
And don't forget Macs are way too cool to do anything useful, like office work. They're way to cool for scientists to use for finding a cure for cancer, for example. - Makes my blood boil! F*cking iPod generation!
Sorry, excuse my language.
Anyway An Apple games console, nice idea, but I doubt it somehow. I'd rather see more games ported to Macintosh first.

Because this forum shouldn't be supporting electronics as the mods have said. It would have been great to have a Gadget/Electronic/Software section for PC troubleshooting, downloads, what camera to buy, another HP printer problem, etc. I have so much hacked software I would share with you guys.

IMHO the market for high end gaming consoles is already crowded, and includes some very, VERY, high end systems. Personally I don't see Apple bringing anything much new to the console world (definitely not much new from the games aspect - perhaps from the box aspect).
Depending on how their apple TV does, I can see that system being expended to become a multi-feature entertainment platform (tivo, vcr, gaming console, plus web browser and e-mail station all wrapped into a nice little package). I can only see Apple bringing something new, if they were to offer similar kinds of elablorate immersive games without requiring the user to buy disks or cartriges. I can imagine just paying your monthly subscription fee and having direct access to a giant gaming library already available to your apple TV box, which would allow you to access anything and play without having to purchase any new equipment. That is a system that I can see attracting a ton of members and keeping them.

The funny thing with AppleTV is that it has a HDMI cable but doesn't support HD, odd?
Also, I played with one of them and the unit runs very hot and I didn't see any fans in it.
