Default So What are your Priorities in a car?
Do you care more about handling than fuel consumpion? Perhaps you care more about Comfort and style than Performance? Or You care the most about features? What is your list of priorities?
EXCLUDE PRICE. We'll assume you can afford it. Otherwise we're limiting too much the cars.
For me, it goes (In order):
* Versatility (seats fold flat, half a bench, or all of it, you can put things in the back, or carry people, or both....)
* Practicality (Runs on normal fuel, you can park it, leave it on the street, It folds and unfolds in a million ways to suit you...)
* Functionality (Everything is purpose built, designed for a reason. Solving real problems, not imaginary ones).
* Ruggedness and robust constuction. I hate rattles, squeaks, and eveerything failing if you drive on dirt roads, and I hate bumpers wrecking if you touch the sidewalk when parking.
* Goes everywhere. Does anything.
* Comfort and Ergonomics. Why would you drive a sports car with no air conditioning, or a sedan that fits 2 people and 2 headless dwarfs in the back?
* Style. I shouldn't care, really, but the more stylish, the more one loves it: the better the car is.
* Capability for its specific use. If its a hatch, I expect it to carry 4 people and behave on city and country roads beautifully. If its a sports car, I expect sheer driving pleasure. If its an offroader I expect it to be trully capable.
* Reliability.
* Handling and ride.
* Fuel Consumption.
^^ From that point of view, I drive a pretty damned good car, really.

To be dead honest, I don't even rate 'Goes Everywhere" because I don't expect a car to go everywhere and do anything. My values in a car could be seen as somewhat shallow, but if a car looks like crap I really wouldn't buy it. I'm not at the stage where I'm really concerned with fuel consumption, I see it as if I can afford a $450,000 car I sure as hell must be able to afford the fuel. In reality, I can afford a $16,000 car so the fuel consumption should be somewhat better (talking new cars here.) A car must ride and handle for me, if that's crap then I'd never buy it full stop. I have a major issue with little rattles, I just can not stand them. I get so pissed off with just the smallest rattle or creak, so my ideal car would be pretty robust. My values could change tomorrow, but right now I really don't consider pacticality and capbility that important.
The reason I love cars is not for their motors etc, it's for their styling and handling and steering. I want a car that is fun to drive and look at. I'm still young so I have plenty of time before I get myself a minivan just because it holds 10 people

Not in order:
- Cushions my ass.
- Split folding rear seat.
- Lift/Hatchback and 4 side doors. No sedans, no coupes, no 3-doors. Some exceptions, maybe, but that's rare.
- A freakin' armrest. Is that something so unreasonable that some subcompacts just don't have one?
- Surround me with airbags in case the worst happens. And a full compliment of safety feature for the passengers that I might end up carrying.
- High-tech gizmos.
- Bluetooth for my cellphone.
- CD changer or auxiliary port (we bought the Prius a year too early, I'd say. )
- Plenty of storage nooks and crannies. I want lots of places to put my junk.
- Somewhere I can put my little plastic Obi-Wan and Darth Vader Kids' Meal Toys from Burger King (I think it's called Hungry Jack's or something like that Down Under).
- Redundant controls on the steering wheel.
- At least a remote lock/unlock, if not a glorious smart/intelligent key
- A fuel consumption thingamagiger because I'm too lazy to do the math.

Own a Supercar and come ask me again
Really, If you can't bloody leave your car at the Supermarket because It's too much of a delicate thing to put anywhere the honestly, give me my Camry Wagon any day. I can Throw shopping trolleys at it, and first, it doesn't get damaged, because its got twenty something protectors which I absolutely love. Second, If I do, mysteriously, miss the protectors, the thing wont dent. Honest! And third, if it does, it just compliments the look of the car.
So do I want that Lamborghini as my daily driver? Pffft.... no way.

These are the things I absolutely must have in a car:
*Four doors
*Large trunk for the size of the car.
*Room for four or five.
*ABS
*Power Steering
*A/C
*Good ground clearance
*Good fuel economy for the size of the vehicle.
*Cheap to maintain.
*And it needs to be a relatively recent car.

Frankly, a Subaru Legacy Wagon embodies everything I want in a car.
-Good Performance/Fun to drive (in GT form it does)
-Good Fuel Economy
-Safety
-Reliable
-Practical (plenty of room)
-Not too common
-Well laid out controls
-Affordable (both initial purchase and maintenance)
-Manual Tranny
Pretty much anything an average person would want in a daily, but isn't as common place as my beloved old Accord.
Granted I would be more than willing to sacrafice a few of those things for a weekend toy, like practicality for a first gen MX-5 or reliablity for a Scirocco or MKII GTI.

Well, it's got to have wheels. Prefferably round ones. Yep, Wheels = Good.

I actually prefer square ones. I don't see what all the fuss is about all these new "round" wheels, I prefer my stone square ones. Sure I'd gain a smoother ride, but the novelty and looks square wheels provide, along with the sheer better driveability provided, is of a much higher standard than the equivlent round wheel.
