Default Diecast Cars NCAP Crash Tests
i always wonder why the scale model of cars i try to smash up never crumple or have dents...
if it is possible i would like this thread for people to post there response and to post pictures after (only if they do crash cars) the test.
any old cars that you were going to put away would be great.
Its all just for fun.
If mods feel this topic is unnessairly(cant spell it) please delete it.

They are made of steel and plastic, and have really think body panels
The only time I saw one broken was when my little bro put one down the drain (our sink has a food decomposer or whatever those are called) and my mom turned it on without knowing and the car's roof got smashed in and the side windows popped out. Thats it. If only we could build actual cars this good, the only problem would be weight

I don't have diecast cars because my son went through a destructive phase about four years ago... I may still have the remnants of the Explorer out in the back yard somewhere, I'll go see if I can dig it up.

The reason is that the width of the metal isnt in scale with the model.
If it were on a real car it would be many inches wide (and all cars would weigh ten tonnes).

i never crash-test my die cast cars, but i'd always crash-test my lego cars. ha, i had a made-up brand of lego cars for a while (creatively called "lego"; it turned out to be alot harder to maintain than my other made-up brands because i always had to build new cars and i eventually ran out of pieces) and i would always crash test each one. there were three cars:
1) the lego adventure (a compact SUV which was the first lego car under my made up brand); the first-generation model crash tested terribly, and if i remember correctly the dummy broke in half. it subsequently underwent a major facelift (it got a nice, flashy chrome grille) and got a new "chassis", and when that model was crash-tested it did much better. i went by IIHS ratings when i crash tested my cars; the pre-facelift adventure was poor overall and in almost every subcategory, while the post-facelift one was good (but not a best pick; i think there were two "acceptable" ratings)...for lego cars i went by model months instead of years (so it would be "may lego adventure" as opposed to "2005 lego adventure"), and the first-generation adventure came out as a march 2002 model, the facelifted one came out i think as a may model, and it was completely redesigned every five months (two months after the facelift) until i ran out of pieces.
2) the lego K2 was a midsized SUV that was designed both to be an upmarket sibling to the adventure and to set an example in crash protection, to save lego's reputation after the adventure's disastrous crash test. the first generation and all subsequent generations (i think there were six generations in total) got a "good" rating and were a best pick.
3) the lego summit was a midsized sedan (although the first- and third-generation models were closer to a compact in size), it did well in every iteration although the first-generation car wasn't a "best pick."
...whew...i think i should make a thread for my lego cars sometime...

I love Lego's, i lived on the things when i was little. I made a few cars but i made more boats and then i would have giant battles in the tub. Ah fun times. Did you take the pieces off to demonstrate a crash or literally crash them.

Yeah I love smashing die-cast cars! I used to buy cars I didn't like on purpose just so I could smash them! A good stress relief for anyone who hasn't tried it! lol

i literally crashed them, into the corner of this toy chest i have in my room. i tried to improve the cars with every "redesign", and pieces almost never fell off anyway, so there usually wasn't much damage.

Thats what i figured, unless i did something drastic it usaully held together. The only car i ever abused greatly was a Hess police car, the thing never broke no matter how many times i bashed it

I dropped my Buraggo or sumthin like that, Maserati 3200GT. It suffered scratched front bumpers, headlights all gone and hood falling apart instantly. I really think Autoarts are nice. So I keep each and every Autoarts and Minichamps in those display spinning thin.

omg i love smashing my diecasts.. what i do is i go in my basement and from the top of the stairs, i drop it on the concrete floor. its awesome in the end. the wheels are always jammed into the wheel wells and it always looks like it had a rollover because the top frame is always distorted.
ive only done it twice though; once to a 1/18th maisto mercedes a-class (got a brand new one so its ok) and the other one was a 1/43rd mercedes s-class. the s-class was my very first attempt.
its totally awesome esp on high quality models like masitos. i'd high recommend it
its fun for a whole 30 minutes. examening it after is pretty awesome too.

I would never crash my own but my friend has over a 100 and some of them were on this small bookcase, about 15 1/18's. I was in a rolly chair and pushed off form the othe side of the room a bit too hard. The chair crashed into the bookcase causing it to tip over and crush a few cars. The results werent pretty. Mostly the hummers got the most damage
