I see what you are saying, but think, perhaps, you are misconstruing the word "success." As I said, given the place in life I am right now, I feel successful, given I have made the most of every opportunity and have no regrets for anything I have done. I have done everything that I can. However, I feel like there are better things I can acheive and still have aspirations. Sort of like the CEO of a company, I guess. They are at the pinacle of their career, as high as they can go, but yet they still aspire to do great things when there. I guess it is the degree of sucess. You can be successful and still be more so than you already are. So I guess anonms really nailed it with his definition of success. |

success does not equal money that is for sure
success is having a fulfilling life by helping the people around you and those less fortunate, while still being comfortable and happy doing a job you love and enjoy...and if you have kids...raising a family to be happy and healthy, so they become good and generous human beings later in their lives |

In your opinon, how would you define success? What makes a person successful, and do you view yourself as sucessful?
In my opinion, a person is successful if they are respected by members of their community, are happy with where they are in life, and are comfortable with how they are living. I don't want to sound conceited, but I view myself as successful at my current place in life in those respects. I am attending the college I wanted to. I am studying for a career that interests me and I have people that trust me to give them a hand on homework if they need it. So where do the rest of you stand? |

Yeah, you can say that success is demostrated by a good house, an expensive car, recognition from others.....but i don't give a sh** for all that if i am not happy, and i know people very wealthy but very unsuccesful. For me, success in life is that state of warm, calm happyness. Sadly, that's a feeling not meant to last.

i agree with anonms too in saying that success is being content. i don't think you can put the same measure of success on everyone in the world, or even everyone in the same society. success is whatever an individual strives to become and is, alas, successful at becoming that person. everyone has their own beliefs of what success should be. a mom wants his son to be successful, making tons of money, marrying a good daughter-in-law, living in a mansion. son thinks hes successful becuase he's just formed his own rock group, and they've played their first concert at the old folk's home. dad thinks they're both nuts and sees his son as the future baseball star. success is all relative.
