well i kinda had something like this. i was with my mom coming out of the supermarket parking lot and we r sitting waiting for the light to turn. and we were talking wen BOOM! were just sittin in the old windstar (which we dont have anymore because of this) and the car just goes like 10 feet forward w/o my mom accelerating. turns out the person behind us decided to speed up and hit us really hard. so, we look to r left and we see a car speeding away. my mom got out of the car to see the damage. the entire trunk and taillights were damaged. so she called the police and told me not to panic (which i do wen im scared). the police arrived and asked for the description of the car. my mom said it was n suv and didnt know the license plate but i knew what car it was. my knowledge of cars got us the person resonsible and $1000 (see knowledge of cars is good for something) . it turns out the car was a ford expedition and that it was a new driver who just got his license. he didnt get arrested and my mom didnt press charges so everything turned out ok. and the damage was really bad so we just got the pilot. the windstar was in a previous accident but thats a whole different story with a backstory to it so im not gonna get into that.

Default My Focus is a tank or I'm extremely lucky
I guess I'm writing this to vent. Ever have one of those days where it goes from being a good day to really bad? Right now I'm finishing up my last summer classes for graduation. I aced one of my final exams, so I was like kickass. So I'm really happy and I found out my parents bought me a ticket to go to Spain after I graduate. So I'm having a pretty good day so far. So I'm commuting from Lakeland to Tampa (FL) and the weather is horrid. Idiots are driving with their hazards on left and right. So I proceed to take the exit for I-75, well the semi in front of me has his hazards on and I can't tell he's braking. So I eventually end up having to slam on my brakes to not rearend him, my car slides, but nothing bad happens. The car behind me ends up having to go into the emergency lane and a pickup behind it ends up getting rearended. I tell myself, wonderful, I caused an accident. So I'm pulling onto I-75 and I saw an accident that just happened, I felt pity for the people, the weather was crappy and it was a family. Finally I take the Fowler exit (I go to USF) and I noticed that the right lane is totally congested. So I proceed to go to the far left lane. I go one lane at a time, turn off my turn signal when I get to the lane, and then go to the furthest left lane. A semi (no trailer) pulls all the way to the left lane and into the left turn lane. The rearend of the truck is sticking out so I immediately have to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting him, I go into the median, but luckily I avoided him. Then, BOOM, I uttered every single cussword in the book. I get out of my car fearing the worst and the driver of the car behind me griped about the damn semi cutting me off. So I look at the bumper, no dents, no body damage, I look under, nada, I just see what I think are scratches. He's tells me not to worry, he has insurance. I respond to with, lemme check this out. I rub the bumper, the scratch comes out. I proceed to get the towel out of my car I wipe the bumper and the bumper wipes clean, not a single scratch! I was overjoyed and thought maybe the dirt protected my car from getting scratched. I don't think his car was damaged either, so I told him not to worry about it and went on my way to class. Today is the 13th, not a friday, I'm not superstitious, but it does sorta seem like an odd coincidence huh? So anyways, has anybody ever had days like these, or am I just a lucky/unlucky fellow?

One humorous thing I saw was a Toyota Avalon with one of those canvas/vinyl roofs and gold Toyota insignias on the side. I couldn't help but laugh (why do our elders do that?), usually those are domestics.

Well sorry your day became rough due to other drivers, but luckily nothing happened to you or your car.
We all get days like that I guess. And Inverse too (aka really bad day that becomes good in the time of a wink). Anyway congrats on the As lol.

Santeno, my family is middle class in Colombia (the place is devided in 6 economic group, 6 having a house and a car, 1 living in the street. I am in the 4th group and we own a car worth arround 2000 US dollars but we pay rent).
Actually the reason for the above (previous post) is my father being australian. For many morons here you can only be Colombian, Chinese (meaning asian) or a yank meaning everyone else, and if you're a yank, you have money. Ahh the ignorance. Anyway, my father being a "Yank" here we have that problem.
It is a lot better now though. He is now honorary consul and helps other australians here, but the scene is a lot better lately. Luckily.
My family is staying here, I'm moving to Oz alone, but I have a brother living there since 7 years ago, so that is good.

The Joys of being in the upper middle income bracket (or higher) in Colombia (or Mexico). I lived in Panama for a time and all you ever hear there are the criminal horror stories that take place next door in colombia (much of it the result of criminality brought on by drug related organizations - that includes guerrillas). I remember the running joke in Panama was that the reason the Panamanian government has never conected the panamerican highway (that runs from Alaska to Tierra del fuego, but is interrupted only once - between panama and colombia) to colombia is because of the fear that colombias problems will spill over into panama. Sorry to hear you've had such bad experiences. So is your entire family moving to Oz or is it just you?

LMAO....

Well My brother, driving a Lada 2104 stoped at a double way intersection. A guy in a suzuki Baleno / Chevrolet esteem was looking somewhere else and despite my brother blowing the horn, flashing lights and even backing up, the guy crashed him front on. let's just say the Suzuki had even the windshield broken, and the Lada, who should've received the most damage, didn't even get the turn signal lens broken.
Both vehicles had to be towed off however, The suzuki because it was cramped up more than a smart, the Lada because the electric system coincidentially failed when attempting to turn the car on again

Heh, my wife and kids rode the trolley to lunch today, their train broke down about halfway through the mile long tunnel in the valley. No lights, air conditioning, or cell phone reception. They were later told that the train's main computer had crashed and all the other systems followed suit.
They were one of the new ones, only been in service less than a week.
My office is on the 20th floor downtown... I have pictures and video of the elevator's floor indicator and buttons.... no thirteenth floor, it goes L,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,14,15,16,17,18,19,20
I found that hilarious the first time I saw it.
The other week I backed into another truck in the parking lot, we both had a little ding and he had a black mark, but nothing major. I appologized and we went on our way. Those things happen, but when you cause an accident like that you should probably at least stop and make sure everyone is ok, just prepare to run if anyone gets pissed at you.

You have an interesting family fresa. If I traced my family back a ways I bet they never moved out of a 200 mile radius!
Buy the way, you guys saying BOOM! all the time makes me think I am reading something by John Madden!
Sorry about your rough day Molotov, but hey, no damage!

Mine was a little different. I was sitting in traffic driving a Range Rover. when all of a suden... Boom! Some idiot cabbie was to busy talking on the phone and didn't pay attention to the traffic ahead and rear ended me. Thankfully the truck weighs a few tons and didn't move forward, so i didn't rear end the guy in front of me. I got out to look and the truck didn't even have a scratch. The cabbie on the other hand was a different story. His front end was mangled. Part of his grill section had been pierced by the truck's tow hitch and ripped out. I screamed at him a little checked my lack of damage and told him to get his head out of his tuckus. Then I drove off and left him with his messed up front-end. Evene as I was driving off, the guy never stopped talking on the phone.

dude it's still a decent day, maybe overwhelming though.
Canvas roofs only work for Lincolns and Caddies IMO, it's just old people not knowing what to spend their money on.
I had lots of coincidents with the number 13, especially when combined with 5 (Friday=5th day of the week is one example). Not sure if it means good or bad luck in my case, but its common and very significant for sure. I can't believe some hotels don't have the 13th floor, they just go from 12 to 14 .

Colombia
My mother brought him. She's Colombian, but they met in an art museum in London, painting the same painting. Then they went off to live in Oz for a year and then they came here to Colombia 26 years ago.
