You could try this, Fruity, with your car's engine noise...

It has already demanded that all electric cars should have external speakers which would play generated combustion engine noise around otherwise dangerously silent vehicle. [no]

But seriously, where and why do we need even more noise in our surroundings? I like it quiet and would enjoy a BMW M5 class performance and luxury in a totally silent cabin!

Probably not the best solution, but when I'm in the country I tend to listen before crossing a road (people bomb down them and you can't see more than a few yards). Could prove dangerous with electric / hydrogen / cauliflower powered cars in the future.

Wasn't there once in a time, in the beginning of the Era of Automobile a law which ordered anyone honking the horn at every intersection?

A Cacophony Galore! [rofl]

Reminds me of a video we had to watch in Drivers-Ed.

It had fantastic 80's production value, and advised us to honk at every intersection, honk when you saw pedestrians, and to generally honk whenever you felt like it.

Chinese traffic education and practice. Use the horn more than the turning signal or brakes. [yes]

The constant honking just causes the alarm sound to lose is significance. Everybody just ignores the constant ambient loud noise and doesn't react no matter how large a siren you sound...

Down here, the Police use a racetrack for high speed traing - the locals used to complain about the noise of the siren (for realistic chases, I assume) so the Police now use recordings of the siren trough the sound system of the cars...

LOL this is retarded!

Our M6 is in the dealership right now getting a new clutch/transmission fixed, man its going to be fun ripping the **** out of the guy who was trying to sell us on the V8 TT [rofl]

We have an X5 on loan while its getting fixed and it sounds like crap compared to the V10.

Reminds me of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9XAC-BvUyo

Don't know what we will do when its time to sell the M6 now that BMW have dropped the V10.
