Default Incompetent, thieving or both!
Argh, I'm really pissed off! I've ordered one of the HP Touchpads through the CarphoneWarehouse which was supposed to be delivered today. I've been hanging around all day waiting for it and according to the tracking website it was out for delivery at 9am this morning.

I've kept checking in on it every now and then just because I've had little else to do today (Work from home, been a slow day) and noticed at 2pm that it had flashed up on the tracking site saying it had been delivered.... with the WRONG postcode about 10 minutes earlier.

I called up the delivery company (Yodel if anyone is interested) who confirmed that they have my correct name and address down on the system and were nice enough to give me the number of the branch office and the mobile number of the delivery driver - I called the office who after 10 mins hadden't answered the phone so I called the driver, he picked up the second time I called and said that he hadn't delivered to my road yet. I told him that the tracking site says it had already been delivered and he had a "rummage" around in the van before saying that he still had my parcel with him and would be by a bit later. I thought, "OK then", and accepted it might have been some sort of mix up on the tracking site.

It's now 17.45 and theres still no sign of the guy and the tracking site now has an option to view "Proof of the delivery"!!!!!!!!!! (I can't see it as I am the recipient), so it MUST have gone to the wrong address and someone has signed for it, despite it having my name all over it!!! The main line to the head office is closed, the branch office still doesn't pick up the phone (Just rings forever) and the driver isn't picking up his phone either. As it's bank holiday Friday this now means I can get in contact with anybody until Tuesday at the earliest.

/RANT!!!!!!

call the driver from a different phone, might just be ignoring your number.

Dial #31# before the driver's number to have your number not come up on caller ID.

It's 141 for a landline.

Edit: For mobiles as well it seems.

Does anyone know of a way to get a telephone number using only an address? By using the alleged delivery postcode I think I've narrowed down to which house signed for it, but I'd rather not just show up there - Would prefer to call first.

All the online services I've found will only let you search for a combined postcode and name.

It's not your problem if it's sent to the wrong address, don't chase the people who signed for it. Chase CW for a replacement.

I know, I'm chasing them as well (Or at least I would be if the office was open!) Just exploring all the available options.

what I did when a similar thing happened was to go to the local depot (yodel) at just before 6pm and waited for the delivery driver to come back into the depot.

funnily enough the phone (ss2) that was supposedly delivered turned up in the back of his van after confrontation [rofl]

what you have to watch with them is that they contract out to self employed drivers who don't always use the works van and sometimes items get delivered back into the back of their van
