Google search field and IE8 - DiscussWorldIssues - Socio-Economic Religion and Political Uncensored Debate

Has this happened to anyone else recently that when you first navigate to Googles homepage the Search box is not already selected so when you start typing you're not typing anything.
And this is the only search engine this happens on, all the others do not require me to select the box with the cursor first

And thus is one of the many reasons I choose not to use IE
