Funny I read this thread as it reminded me how Virgin recently released super fast broadband in some areas in the UK with speeds reaching 1.5Gbps with unlimited quota. Lucky SOB's.

EDIT: It will take Australia about 10 years before it get's fibre with speeds up to 100Mbps to the majority of the population.

That's in their offices.

Found it in this article here.

http://thenextweb.com/shareables/201...-mind-blowing/

It mentions that they download at 32mb/sec.

I max out at 14.5mb per second on my line here if I find a good server.

32MB/s is only 256Mb.

What Google is rolling out in iirc Kansas City is 1000/1000. My ISP offers that to residents for $317. Just wondering how the pricing plans will compare with Googles. My ISP has 4 rated plans.

Probably limited by the upload speed of the host server.

No clear line of site. We thought that it might have been there at the tornado, but it isn't.

I'm quite sure that in their offices they have a god know what multi gigabit connection topping by far the 1000/1000 that they are offering in Kansas.

The thing is that when you have over a few hundred megabits you are constantly being limited by the download servers.

I even see it on my 100mbit line let alone a connection of over 1 gigabit.

It is probably even faster than that because my work line gets higher speeds.

That is pretty good for Comcast.

Same $50 here with Comcast gets you only half that speed.
