Interesting that people think nothing of dropping a fortune on a watch, when a cheapo Casio can do the same... but as soon as someone drops cash on a decent computer (er... say like a Mac) they're a posy pr1ck.
It's because while everyone has different priorities, not everyone is intelligent and insightful enough to realise this.

More or less why I really couldn't care less what other people think. As long as you are doing it for yourself (and not to be a showboaty dumbass), then more power to you in buying what you enjoy. [yes]

Did you look in your Wal*Mart brand dryer?

If you buy cheap socks expect to lose them. Mine are RFID and GPS equipped.

I have no idea what brand of dryer the servants use.

They look really nice. I'll try and find a UK stockist for a proper look.

I'm pretty sure they have distributors in EU and Asia. Check out the foums @ http://www.watchtalkforums.info/foru...lum-tec-forum/ The owner/builder is there to answer questions and there are usually some pretty nice pics of various models.

I need a watch for wearing every day to work, the gym, going for a pint
does this not require at least 2 watches?

work/pint + gym are different things?

I've scuffed the living sh!t out of a few watches while wearing them to the gym. No more, unless it's a heart rate monitor.

Well, here's the thing about a watch. A quality semi luxury or full on luxury brand watch will last decades, if not longer. It will always be in style, and you can pass it down to your son and he can wear it, etc.

I initially see the issue with getting on someones case for spending 5 grand on a top of the line computer, or spending 5 grand on a watch. Thing is, that computer will be obsolete in 2 years, while you'll still have decades of value to be gaine from that watch. Just my 2 c.

A perfect example of this kind of stupidity is an argument I had with BazerLace the other day where he thought it was stupid of me to spend a lot of money on clothes, while simultaneously trying to claim that spending three grand on a pushbike was actually a necessity.

A lot of people just don't realise that because something isn't what they want to spend their disposable income in doesn't mean it is a dumb purchase. To an extent, all purchases made with disposable income are frivolities that nobody really needs. They just make us enjoy our own interests more.

I wear a Seiko kinetic myself. Keeps amazing time, looks great, and I got it for about $120 from an authorized dealer. While I'd love to have a fine Swiss auto, I'll stick with my current watch until I actually have money to burn, which might be a long time at the going rate.

Check out Lum-Tec. Great watches, great service. I have a few and am very happy with all of them.

Holy crap those look sweet!

Do you realise the hypocrisy of that? Or with the tent issue?

Back on topic, exactly what are you looking for, Gold, SS, Titanium?
Plain, three hand dial, chronograph, illuminated display?
You say leather band - black or brown?
Dial colour and finish?
You have to consider these things as you give the impression of being clothing conscious and you want it to compliment your clothing - or at least not clash.
As has been said, some may value a good quality watch as it can last for decades, whereas others see them as disposable items, and won't spend more than a tenner on one.

Last watch I had (I don't wear one) was a three hand analog, had a SS band and surround of the watch glass, which was a strong crystal - I was doing manual work and needed something resistant to knocks and general wear and tear, water resistant to keep out sweat, water, etc.
It wasn't proof against me leaving it somewhere though...

The Seiko is what I use when I go swimming, snowboarding or at the gym.
Seiko SNZG07K1

For formal/casual/work I use my STEINHART "Nav B-Uhr II 44 mm hand driven"

For an everyday watch I'd recommend a watch with metal strap! Leather/etc straps absorb moisture and will both deteriorate and start to smell a bit funny when worn daily

Have this one myself:

(I just submerge it in water every now and then to clean the strap)

Seikos are very nice for this purpose, they look decent imo are well priced and have outstanding build quality. In your price range it should be easy to find a model with sapphire glass too (which doesn't scratch! Huge plus for an everyday watch imo)
Have a look at the Arctura range:
http://www.seiko.co.uk/products/seiko/c/arctura

Seiko kinetic watches don't need battery replacements either (battery gets charged by wrist movements), which makes them extra reliable [yes] (had my seiko for 7 years, still going strong)
Hope the design matches your taste.

No, you geriatric I'm not being hypocritical because I'm happy to admit that what I buy is pure indulgence generally. People trying to justify things as necessary which are also complete indulgence, while mocking others for indulging themselves is my issue.
