Default Every day watch?
I need a watch for wearing every day to work, the gym, going for a pint etc etc. Anyone seen anything a bit special for not much money? £500 tops but I'd prefer to spend half that.

EDIT: I like this one, but I couldn't live with that strap and I'm not willing to buy a new one if I have to pay that much.

Any watch would do, as long as it tells the time.

http://www.casio.com/products/Timepi...ssic/A158WA-1/ twenty bucks, classic look...I got 2, and I really like them. But I guess it depends on your age/style as to what you prefer.

By that logic....no I give up. There is no logic to be had there.

I've been wearing the above as an everyday watch for about 10 years now. It's superb. It wears well, looks decent, and has a flawless drive, which goes off by less than 5 seconds per month. That's phenomenally-good timekeeping, and is actually better than some of the >$1000 Longines watches I've seen.

I wear a Seiko but that looks like cheap crap Chinese merchants peddle on Canal St.

It's nice, but I'd prefer something a bit more casual / sporty.

Looks fine to me.

I don't have a lot of disposable income to buy expensive watches.

I'm possibly looking at picking one of these up soon for everyday use. Still undecided as I want a watch with a leather strap.

Take a look at Suunto. Nice outdoor watches, some are simple and affordable, and you won't look like a ****** wearing a watch made my a company famous for shirts.

If you want something a bit more classic, I think you could do a lot worse than Swiss Army (Victorinox). I wear one myself - even the titanium ones come in less than £500. I have this one:

I really like the look of those suunto's, but I want an analogue watch.

How is it any more stupid to wear a watch made by a shirt manufacturer than a watch made by a knife manufacturer?

Ha, touché. Well I'd have to say the Swiss are better known for their watch making than the Germans. I like the simplicity and classic Swiss look.

Any why on earth is "tossser" with only two S's a censored word? When did FM become Utah?

Seiko make fine, inexpensive watches that looks stylish and can be worn on almost any occasion. For every day wearing, I like the Tag Heuer Aquaracer. It looks great and shouldn't break the bank.

Yeh, me too. Except my mate rocked up at the pub with it last week. It's the only Tag that's anywhere near my budget as well (and looks good).

Interesting that people think nothing of dropping a fortune on a watch, when a cheapo Casio can do the same... but as soon as someone drops cash on a decent computer (er... say like a Mac) they're a posy pr1ck.
