I hope its a 4 door our Almera is a 2 door putting the niece and nephew in the back is a serious pain in the ass. If you didn't, include the annual finance cost and see that £300 rise! |

I didn't think they even did the diesel models over there! I like them though in all seriousness. If I was to get a smaller economical car I'd maybe get one, or a DS3 if I wanted something a bit more unusual. Sometimes you can get bored with having a fast or flash car, but you can never really get bored of saving money. It's also almost fun to me to try get the best MPG possible on journeys. I sound like I'm 50 not 25 :'( |

Well, it was delivered today.
Is it meant to sound like a tractor? [surrender][rofl] Has about 34k KM on the clock (2010 model). Kinda happy I only have this one for 10 weeks before I get my "permanent" one. Maybe that one will sound a little less tractor-like. Don't get me wrong - I actually really like it - its certainly nice to drive. It just sounds a bit "rough" [rofl] |

The sound of the engine starting in a diesel will stand out for a while. No matter how refined they are they still sound like chug boats. Once going though the engine should sound much smoother. I have to do 300km on Tuesday so I can give it a good thrashing then ![]() |

Gz, this new Polo is a very very nice looking car, and the quality from VW is always there. This car is very good - meaning even though a good portion of my salary hits the 50% tax bracket, I still only end up paying about 110 euro NET a month for having the car to use privately. |

It's one of the last few good perks in the UK as far as I'm concerned. I've got a 30 grand motor on the drive and all it costs me is around £140 a month in benefit in kind tax. I swear I will start crying on the spot if I ever had to buy my own car again. Company cars are a very nice perk though. Does it work like... tax band (as percentage) * price of car = extra earnings. Extra earning taxed at say, 40% ??? So 13% of £30,000 = £3,900 £3,900 /12 = £325 a month. Taxed at 40% = £130. So just the £130 is deducted as tax? |

You'd just have to buy your polo shirts from Primark. I know I pay tax at 40% on 13% of the car which comes to about £140 a month. Actually, it's slightly less as I have another BIK tax I forgot about. I specifically chose a low c02 engine though at the sacrifice of a bit of power. The next band (120 g/m co2 takes it up to 18% tax). I couldn't be seen in Primark! (kidding - I get quite a few things from there). |
