Default Red Bull X1 (The ultimate F1 car)
http://www.carsguide.com.au/site/new...ds_fastest_car

There will be some of you that have already seen this this, it's not exactly new news. I was looking at the Gran Turismo 5 photo thread I was wondering what this fancy looking Redbull car is available in the game.

For F1 fans that don't know of this cars virtual existence in the game, it's quite interesting to see an F1 teams concept of an F1 car if it were not bound by the sports technical regulations, using technologies we know that can be applied to an F1 car that are now banned and simulating how fast such a car would be realistically achievable in real life.

If only they would build such a car!

But did your dreamed up car actually go through mechanical and aerodynamic simulations?

Anyways, reposting my screenshots from that GT5 thread:

They should build it and race it in the Le Mans series. [thumbup]

In my head, yes.

Is it faster than the 3000GT with all upgrades in Gran Turismo 2? I think not.

Nordschleife in under 4 mintues. So yes it's...
Plus there's no track that has a corner this car can't take @ ~150 mph. It's crazy...

Most of the time I just try to avoid touching the gas because the corners come too fast.

That track isn't in GT2 so there's no direct comparison. A massive flaw in GT2 meant that the 3000GT could do 500kph when fully tuned, hence the question.

It can do 500kph. But the reason why X1 is so amazing is the crazy downforce. X1 has fan creating downforce just like Chapparal 2J or that Brabhams F1 car. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaparral_2J#2J

The Red Bull X1 wouldn't be the 'ultimate' F1 car (no rules applicable), it's only got four wheels for a start...

True, but only because they were banned before the big teams developed their own cars (not just their testing prototypes) and they never really had the sophisticated tech at the time to get the most out of the idea. (Not to mention looking ridiculous).

But, the main point is 4WD (if 4 at the back), more rubber in contact with the road, more grip, and two extra discs, more braking.

You could also do clever things with the diff to get them to turn in faster also, especially if you add in traction control, active suspension and more modern technology, it could definitely be an advantage.

Heck, 8 wheels would be even better.

I wonder how many cans of red bull had to have been consumed to pay for that car.
