Default Arizona girl hurt when bounce house blows away
This is one of those incidents that in hindsight seem obvious, but normally would never occur to you. Must have been a wild ride though, and definitely something to tell your friends. Glad there were no serious injuries.

Fortunately they did not land on any wicked witches!

MARANA, Ariz. (AP) -- A gust of wind picked up a bounce house with two girls playing inside Saturday, dumping one girl in the yard but carrying the other two houses away and dropping her onto a roof.

The incident in the town of Marana left a 10-year-old with serious head lacerations and other injuries. She was taken to a trauma center in Tucson after firefighters got her off the roof.

Northwest Fire District spokesman Adam Goldberg says the two girls were at birthday party when what family members called "a micro-burst" picked up the bounce house.

The 10-year-old was carried more than 100 feet before falling out onto the house. Her 7-year-old friend had minor injuries.

About two dozen roof tiles were shattered by the impact.

Inflatable play house - like a small bouncy castle.

Seeing as it's basically a big balloon filled with air I doubt it would take that strong a gust to move it. Should have been tied down.

A similar thing happened over here a while ago with a proper big bouncy castle; in that case people actually died.

Yeah, we had crazy storms pass through here yesterday.

And they came from the southwest, -> to northwest direction

Marana is not too far from Tucson, south of us here in the valley. So they got some heavy downbursts.

I remember reading the story, it wasn't tied down correctly and since a bouncy castle usually has one entrance and 3 walls, the wind went in, and picked it right up, dropping people onto the ground from a great height.

tbh, though putting one up when its blowing a Hurricane outside is asking for a Darwin award.

Am I the only one who laughed at the thought of this?
