Default Physics question
Working on some physics homework and i have had a brain fart and im stuck, would appreciate some help. Here is the problem

A small fly of mass 0.24 is caught in a spider's web. The web vibrates predominately with a frequency of 5.0 . What is the value of the effective spring stiffness constant for the web?

so i use the formula

T=2pi*sqrt(m/k)

We dont have T but we have hz so if we take the recipocal we get T which is .2s. Gotta make sure i convert grams to kg since my answer is in n/m

.2=2pi*sqrt(.00024kg/k)

To get rid of the square root i square everything in the equation right?

so thats

.04=4*pi^2*(.00024/k)

then what? (assuming i was on the right track

divide both sides by 2pi first, then square

k is around .25

Susie is correct as long as the math was all done properly.

The misses just confirmed it. (Shes working on a PhD in physics... I just play instruments.)
