Default Error 2711: need help!
Ok well im getting this error code when installing Cyberlink Powerdirector 6, yes i own it before anyone asks. Ive done lots of research and its an annoying problem to fix, if it can ever be fixed at all. There is a microsoft solution on their site stating to download some software, but now its been reoved as it can damage installations of other programs!

So i then get a registry cleaner, which finds lots of problems except the one that fixes this issue! nothing will work, its really frustrating!

Any ideas? Perhaps a better registry cleaner?

Dumb question.

Why use a software that you cant even install in the first place??????

Simple fix for you;

Use another software.

Then why are you even asking us? Why not do what Microsoft suggests in that KB and, "contact your software manufacturer for installation support on the product"? If you've paid for a legitimate product then contact their support and get them to help you. Anyway there's several locations you can download the MS Installer Clean Up Utility...

Cyberlinks solution is to download MS' tool to fix it! but like i said its been taken down from MS' site as its dangerous to use!

SO i said to myself "Screw it" and found somewhere that had this program (softpedia) i got it, installed it half way through installation it says something about powerdirector is causing an issue and needs to delete installation files etc, so i say yes and then it says, it cannot be removed and nothign will continue! SO even the fixing program is unable to 'fix' it. What a joke!

They all reccomend getting that utility from MS, which doesnt work, least not for me. Others have found that reg cleaning utilities work well, but the free one ive tried was useless.
