Addressing concerns that the iPad had missed it 4.8 million unit target by nearly 20 per cent, selling 4.1 million units, Jobs seemed to lay the blame at the feet of rival tablet makers for not quickly bringing worthy products to markets. So, wait, they didn't sell as many Ipads as they expected because other manufacturers haven't released good enough tablet PCs? How's that work? The Ipad is just too awesome for people to buy?

I think Jobs was expecting other manufacturers to come out with much crappier tablets thus making Ipad look better and selling more of it in the process.

Those that had the money and wanted an ipad, purchased one. they're are a lot of reasons they didnt hit their expected target like those interested may be holding out for them to be reduced eventually but lack of competition was not one of them. One would expect a lack of competition to push sales further past an expected demand

Because if nobody else is selling tablets that means people with an iPad can't lord it over others going "Oh, my iPad is soooooo much better than your cheap tablet"

and lets be honest, those people make up around 93.6% of Apples consumer market.

True, but Apple pretty much created a product line that most companies deemed a failed market . Now, everyone and their mother are trying to create the next best Tablet.
