Default Any fans of Liverpool FC?
Just wondering considering the club is supposedly being sold to the owners of the Boston Red Sox.

Read this literally just a while ago. Being sold to the owners of the Red Sox, I assume there's a distinction between that and the actual organization having control?

Anyway, I don't watch football (either kind) and I'm only a Red Sox fan when they're playing the Yankees.

It will be better than the hicks group that is for sure. I felt so sorry for liverpool when he bought the team. I watched him run the Rangers into the ground and knew he would do the same to liverpool. On a side, note... now that he no longer owns the team, the Rangers are good, so there is hope liverpool fans [thumbup]

A mate of mine runs a Liverpool FC website/forum etc. Thought I'd give him some free advertising... I guess there's a lot of discussion going on over there.

and thats why they are desperate to sell - and the Hicks are fighting - looks like when they go down they want to want to drag the club down as well , 9 point deduction with 1/4 of the season gone will spell doom for the club

Ha! They don't even have 9 points to lose.

I believe LFC and NESV have signed an agreement on the sale. Will be very surprised if anyone other than NESV take over the club.

The decision means the sale to NESV can proceed, although club chairman Martin Broughton hinted rival bids may now be considered at a meeting on Wednesday
and

NESV said in a statement that it had a "binding agreement in place with the Board of Liverpool FC".
and

Following Wednesday's High Court ruling, Lim issued a statement outlining his plans.

"I welcome the decision of the court," it read. "I hope that when the board is reconstituted tonight that it will not simply ratify a sale to NESV but will consider all the offers before them.
Lin has offered more money and cash for purchase of new players.

Lin has offered more money and cash for purchase of new players. True, but I would like to know more about his long term plans.

£20 million more plus the promise of £20 or £40 million to spend in January looks enticing, but what's his plans regarding a new stadium? Long term investment?

NESV may be offering less money but (from all that I have read), have a track record of dealing with situations such as the one Liverpool are currently in.

LFC either need to redevelop Anfield or build a new stadium. NESV have done both of these with different teams in the US.

Liverpool really, really need to get this decision right. It cannot be about the short term. It has to be a deal that is right for the next 5 to 20 years.

"...share in the substantial appreciation in the value of Liverpool FC that their investments have created."

This guy should do stand-up. They've helped create a complete mess. [rofl]

Not quite, Manchester United is immensely popular in Asia. Liverpool however, is not.

Not really up to speed on the whole thing but I assume Kop Holdings is registered as a US company? Plus RBS would likely have investments and the like over there so they would have to honour the TRO.

In the meantime....
