Hate to think what your fridge looks like...
Clean. I spend 30 mins a week on it. My point was that it would be silly to spend hours cleaning my fridge. It's equally true of your car. Unless you keep it in a hermetically sealed box then dedicating hours to cleaning something that gets dirty as soon as you drive it should mean you are arrested and charged with wasting your own life.

I'm starting to wonder if futuremark is drugging its users to make them blind and incompetent!

I like to clean and polish my car, I even clay it, and seal the paintwork to prevent deterioration and corrosion.

Sprayway is awesme, didnt they have the orange cans?

Howmuch do they set you back.. and also.. is it a white foam coming from it?

When we still had to use films in graphic industry we used that stuff for camera lenses etc.. it's THE BEST OF THE BEST cleaning material for glass ! [thumbup]
The SprayWay here is a white foam that comes from a white can. It is only $2.99 at Home Depot (less than a large coffee from Dunkin Donuts).
I use strictly Meguiars for everything (well, with exception of Invisible Glass).
Have you tried Sprayway? I will Paypal you a refund if you do not like it better. Not only is it the best glass cleaner, the company is also environmentally sound (the can is made from recycled parts and the cleaner is non-toxic). And no, car wash liquid should not remove wax (certaily not synthetic wax). The key is not to rub. The weight of a heavy sponge (and please use microfiber only) is more than sufficient to clear superficial dirt off the car. Anything that requires rubbing should be clayed off, not rubbed off with a sponge. I meant that literally the surface contact with a sponge will remove some wax, regardless of how light of pressure you apply.[quote]Basically, for someone who lives in a house and has access to a hose, the appropriate steps for paint maintenance and cleaning are:

1. Every week/two weeks max: wet the car, wash with car wash liquid (soak in foam first), rinse with water 2X, then dry. Optional, but recommended: apply polymer water-repellant (such as Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer) after the car is dry.[quote]Ever try P21S paint cleaner? That stuff is really good too. 2. Every month/6 weeks: wash the car, clay with car clay bar, wash second time, re-apply wax. I clay bar once a year, sometimes twice... I thought I was over-doing it!

No, and even with my own car I would act the same. Stop trying to put words into my mouth. I get it washed weekly by a hand car washing service and an internal valet every few weeks as it needs it.

I did not at any point say I don't like to look after things. I said I think that dedicating hours and hours to something that really isn't necessary is anal and a waste of precious spare time.

Don't you all have friends and family you would rather see than using a toothbrush to get the last bit of dirt out of an alloy wheel?

dont be ridiculous [rolleyes]

as for getting some dude to wash my car, well Id rather spend my time doing my own car, saving my self money, than handing cash over to some foreigners who wont wash it properly anyway.

Plus I enjoy cleaning my car, I find it therapeutic, and it gives me satisfaction.

What a moronic thing to say. If you don't have any friends and would rather waste an entire day cleaning your car then go ahead.

Personally I'd rather get my "therapy" the usual way; through social activities and having some fun.

and for the record, i do not do this much detail to my car but i would if it was worth it. i have about 10,000 rock chips all over the hood from driving on the freeway daily to school as well as massive part of the clear coat peeling up. there is some oxidation on the roof and on the back door there is a big dent/scratch section from where the dealer took a corner to sharp. basically, the car needs to be repainted and it being, i guess somewhat 'rare' i would like to do this.

the engine is real sound but she aint no looker.

There is nothing wrong with washing your own car, but you're talking about spending hours on it just for it to need doing again as soon as it rains. Nice racist comment at the end though, I guess we're seeing your true colours now [ban]

what you dont seem to understand is that people do actually find things fun that you may not. and you should think of an actual argument instead of just calling people names.

i do have friends, and go to social activities but its nice to get alone time and i wish i had a car that it was worth the time to do such detailing too.

LOL - that really is just too much. Have you even read any of your comments to me? Go and be sanctimonious to someone who will pay attention to you.

has nothing to do with morals or the thought that i am better than anyone else. i just dont get how calling me a moron has anything to do with what i had said. it just always seems you suck the fun out of threads.

and as ohp said, i dont get the point of buy a $250 shirt but you do. so there is no issue, it is just a difference in what we find to be important enough to spend such money on.

that's pretty moronic too

for me, I dont get to see my proper friends that often, seeing as I'm in the military, and I hate socializing with military types because its always ends up talking shop, but that doesn't me I dont,I see my family every few months when I go home.

but I still wash my car, because,if its clean and you seal the paintwork in a good layer of polish and treat the external plastics, all you have to do is jet wash it when it starts to get a little dirty and that layer of good polish repels the dirt so it taken away with the water.

I throw a pound in the jet was, give it a quick blowing over, and boom the dirt is gone.

gonna wait for a nice weekend weather wise this month and give the car a winter valet, so that the road salts and road film doesn't damage the paint work, change my floor mats for winter ones, and my winter tyres will be fitted in late October, may re do the under seal too and wax seal my alloys, as this will be the last time I properly clean my car this year.

I wash and wax my car 6 times a year, so its not like its an "all time consuming billy no mates" affair you're making it out to be

I think you would be better off with a professional valet, that costs about as much as an expensive shirt, but at least you know it will be a proper job, rather than paying for an illegal immigrants subsidence.

show us a pic of yer bird mate, as I'd like to see the face of what must be, the most unfortunate woman in this country.

I bet you bite

She said that just because she puts up with me doesn't mean she wants anyone to know that she does.

The guys that operate my local hand car wash do a really good job for a wash and go effort. A professional valet comes round our office every couple of weeks and does a few peoples cars but we have to pay for it ourselves and I don't see the benefit.

Ah, good, don't want you keeling over with food poisoning...
To you and me, it may seem a bit anal, but if it gives them happiness, and it doesn't affect us, just let them.
think of it a a hobby, or relaxation thearapy, like gardening or fishing.
Also means better resale value and, if you buy second hand, better chance of getting a sweet ride.

Even trailer queen show/concours cars have their place - however, I think most of the guys on the McGuires 'Car Crazy" show are 100% certifiable - but then I'm of the opinion cars should be for driving!

yeah,each to their own [yes].

and these concourse guys are crazy, but when your talking about cars (in some cases) that are worth multiple millions I too would be cleaning it regularly
