There is another thread where we make fun of a dumb **** for being desperate. You would fit right in.
I'm not desperate, I just don't want to be that loser eating alone. I was at hooters the other day, and there was this middle aged dude, eating wings, alone. That's just sad... All I could think was "what a loser".

I can head out to the guy joints with guy friends, but you can't go to a nice place without a girl, otherwise you just look sad and pathetic. I should make some female friends now that I'm single. Or I could date, but I'd have to be careful, because the last thing I need right now is a crazy girl. Not sure if playing russian roulette is a good idea until I graduate next year with my BS in comp sci.

Aren't you married?
You missed the thread a couple months back where I said I was getting divorced. She was gone most of the time, so I lived at the house and took care of the dogs, but she's back at home now, so I moved out, and now I live about 1 mile from work so I can walk instead of wasting tons of gas every week. I'm still working on unpacking and stuff.

Making fun of beer! How could anyone be little beer!?

To me, beer is just a cold drink. Its like a soda.
I used to drink beer to get drunk, but it doesn't work well. You piss a lot, burp a lot (not good when females are around), and you gotta drink a lot.
Though, I love beer, so it has now just become another soda so to say. Though it is nice to get a little buzz during the day.

I actually drank drank for the first time in like 4 years the other night. Last time I had a bad experience, so had to stop for a bit.

Yo, Guinness is good, and I'm happy you enjoy it, but Arrogant ******* Ale is the greatest beer of all time.
A great beer, but I wouldn't call it the greatest beer of all time, hell I wouldn't even say it's Stone's best beer. Have you tried their Russian Imperial Stout, Ruination IPA, or Barleywine? Magical stuff.

Yes, yes, and yes. All are fine, but none hold a candle to AB in terms of flavor complexity. That AB is the greatest beer of all time is open to debate. That it is Stone's best is not.

Yeah. It was a mutual decision. Our marriage has kinda been dead for a while. She needs to figure out what she wants in life before she attempts to commit to anything. We're still friends and all. The more I think on it the more relieved I am. It frees me up to seek someone who knows what they want and has interests and life goals more in line with my own.

I never thought about beer like that. I guess since I was used to sampling the piss everyone normally gets (lol bud) I just thought of beer as a nasty tasting drink that made you fat and got you drunk. When I think about it, there's a certain flavor to guinness that I never found in any of the other beers I had. They were just... bleh. I should re-try AB some time and actually give it an unbiased chance.

I do enjoy a six pack of Guinness. Its very smooth and goes down easy.

But, it makes me deaf in my left ear and i sound hallow when i speak after two beers. I sound as if i lost my voice when i speak/talk.

The world store sold it before they went under. And they sold ramune at a good price too. I can at least say that unlike others beers it didn't taste like piss. Just wasn't smooth enough for me.

I want to head over to Granite City and try some of the beers they brew. I need to find a girl to take with me... now that I'm single I can't go out to places like that because I'd feel like a douche not having a girl with me. Like, I have a $50 gift cert to Club Soda... their calamari and french onion soup are AMAZING, but I can't show up solo... I should ask random girls "want to go out to eat with me? You don't have to screw me, just let me buy you dinner so I don't look like a scrub eating alone"
Good plan - then get them drunk and screw them anyway!

I pretty much agree, although Double ******* and some of their anniversary beers are pretty damn good....even better in some ways.

You should try Port Brewing "Old Viscosity" it is in the vein of AB, but with extra kick (and its own subtleties). If I remember right it is 10.5% ABV.

Also, Guinness is not even close to the best beer or best beer for its type. However, for mass produced beer readily available, I would say it does win. It is damn good considering how much they make, and that you can get it anywhere.

I have to agree, Arrogant ******* is the best non-seasonal, non-anniversary beer Stone offers, and is one of the best in the country. One of my friends, an ex-pat Brit (who at times can be an arrogant prick) who always claims everything is better on the other side of the pond and that Americans don't know what real beer is, ate a crow when he finally had an AB at my urging.

I also love Ruination, but then again I'm a sucker for high IBU.

ptaay, I was up in Seattle for a conference a few months back. What an amazing city.

Czech Pils is great, I brew some every spring and it comes out great around 7-8% plus I enjoy Kolsch. Gaffel Kolsh is cheap but Reissdorf Kolsch is my fav but its .5L bottles a box of 16 for 90 bucks. Good stuff. I also enjoy Belgian Golden Ale (I brewed some once with honey and it came out at ~9% was kickass). I like my belgian ales, kolsch, and pils. I also enjoy Dos Equis and Tecate but only when its hot as hell outside. When I was in Mexico their beers were amazing, has to do with the weather I'm sure. Corona was still disgusting.
Sapporo and Kirin Ichiban are excellent with sushi.
Dog Fishhead "fort" tastes pretty bad but gets you ****ed up fast (fun to drink).
Dogfish 120min IPA is the only IPA I ever enjoyed but it made me feel like I had a meal.

I can respect that. I might agree on the barleywine and Ruination, but I find their Russian Imperial Stout very complex, especially as it warms. Have you tried the Oaked Arrogant *******? Pretty complex, though I do prefer standard Arrogant *******. I will say that Stone is probably the best brewery on the west coast, with Russian River coming in at a close second, and probably North Coast or Moylan's coming in at 3rd. I love all the craft brewing in California and the west coast in general, even in my small town I have access to at least 250 different beers.

I've never puked with Guinness...

But I have taken a crap so dark the morning after that I'm pretty sure I was pooping midnight itself.

Also on the high list of my favorites is Brooklyn's Black Chocolate Stout.

RainWind, once you've had enough of the easy-drinking Guinness, try some of it. It's available starting in October.

Been drinking Guinness since I was in my teens (80's) lol. Still my favorite beer.

Having said that, I was at World Market this past week and saw that they had Dixie Brewing Co.'s "Blackened Voodoo" and couldn't pass up buying two six packs of it...

Love Guinnes as well!

This new Bar & Grill opened up next to me that carry about 22 Microbrews on tap and this one happens to be my favorite at the moment.

The Allagash Curieux
http://www.allagash.com/curieux.htm

Such a good beer!

This is Manderes bottled beer list. They don't keep the tap list on the site because it changes quite a bit, but they have a great selection of beer compared to anyone else in this area!

That stuff is amazing! I can't wait until it's available again, I buy a case every year. One of my all time favorites is Young's Oatmeal Stout. If you want something with a real bite, try Victory Storm King.

So I take it this is your first Stout? No need to limit to Guinness.
