You guys get different show host etc in the USA compared to the UK on allot of programs. Allot of the programs are not good but allot are very good and you can learn allot by watching them.

Obviously Deadlist Catch, Ice road truckers etc are not really those programs, but still good to watch. Stuff about the Universe, the Wars and other history, then Nasa, Trains, Planes etc and so on are very interested to watch and gain knowledge from. Have you ever actually watched any of these? Or only watched the entertainment programs?

I NEVER watch any of the programs I listed, which is why I have a problem with them. When I'm in the learning mood, I'll flip over to The Learning Channel/History/Discovery etc.. in hopes of learning something new and interesting but instead all that's ever on is some overly dramatized portrayal of competitively baking a cake or horribly raising your children.

There are programs that are great like LIFE, Planet Earth, Earth: The Biography, The Universe, America: The Story of Us, How Stuff Works, Mythbusters(to an extent, sometimes it's useless), etc... but they are few and far between.

What it comes down to is people are being dumbed down by television because all that ever airs is useless bullshit, and television companies only air useless bullshit because anything of educational substance gets terrible ratings and makes no money for the company. It's a vicious, endless cycle.

You get allot more then that in the UK, loads more, there's so many programs to watch and learn stuff from here on the discovery channels, history, and military channel. I don;t like Myth busters though.

How can anyone not like Mythbusters? I think it's great! [thumbup]

Anyone watch Cities of the Underworld? That was great. I've seen some really interesting stuff on History et al.

But apart from the satellite channels, over here, the BBC and Channel 4 and sometimes Channel 5 show some great documentaries.

I hate the way it's presented and the presenters. I find it well to cheesy, corny and annoying personally.

I watch Cities of the Underworld of the world also! There's allot of good programs here, one problem, is they are late at night, so am often awake most of the night despite having to get up early.

Can't you Sky+ them or something? Most of the stuff I watch is recorded these days; I hardly watch anything live. That way you can skip the adverts too!

yeah I can record, (Got Virgin HD box) I record stuff I mean to watch, but most of the time I don't plan on watching allot of stuff just turn it on and get into it whatever time it's on. But advertspiss you off, especially when they put adverts on most channels at same time so having a break watching something you cant watch something else quickly!

No it was a different programme, called Gamepad (finished in 2004 according to Wikipedia), presented by Violet Berlin. I haven't heard of the programme you mentioned, or even the channel for that matter.
