Default doing a small test with VB
Hmm lets give it a test and see.

I've never centered my signature before and since I first joined in 2001 I've had a shortened version of my name above my sig in purple. Trying like this.

I'm glad it's gone to be honest. It often messed up sigs.

Its odd, when we moved from wwwthreads and we lost the "unified" look, I missed it; but now we have got used to it, I feel we need a seperator of some sort so we know what is the post and what is the signature....especially for those people that have text as signatures.

I much prefer it like this, If somebody wants a line across they can add it themselves anyway [thumbup]

Couldn't they just insert some sort of separator themselves?

We can't enforce that, and when some people try to add something offensive, the mod team would need to investigate more what section needs editing.

I much rather prefer it without the line!
[thumbup]
Did you guys forget why it was put there in the first place?

No line only works for people with images as sigs. It looks like part of the post otherwise.

Draw a line yourself if you want one - that's what I would do.

I agree. Without it, the only way to tell if some text is part of the post or sig was to quote it.

Yeah I've just seen an example of what you mean with Zoolook's signature. It looks like he's ending every post with a bit of Buddhist wisdom.

I say ban text based sigs.

If the separator has to come back i would probably prefer it going across the whole of a post rather than just the left hand side. Maybe just me thinks that would look better tho...

What might be a better option would be to give users a choice, i.e., let them enable or disable it across all posts for their own viewing benefit.

If you just let users decide whether or not they want to add it to their own posts, well, for one thing I don't think many of them would (either because they never thought of the idea and / or don't care), and it wouldn't stop people from intentionally trying to make their signature look like part of their post (which was what I thought the separator was for in the first place).

EDIT: I like the separator. It served a purpose, didn't take up much space, and didn't make anything look awkward or unattractive in my opinion.

Don't like it as it makes allot of people text sigs look part of their post, which is not good as makes posts not make sense!

Bring it back!! I've already seen at least two people whose sigs now look like part of their posts. It will be even worse when people start doing it deliberately, like before, which is why the line was put there in the first place!

I loved it when there was no separator, and I used to make my sigs plain text so that people would end up reading them as part of the post. Used to tick off tons of people. I think Inept suspended me at one point for it. =/
