If you don't already have a gun, this might be a good time to get one.

Lol. Well I live in the UK so that wouldn't be easy :P. But would be fairly uselss anyway, at least if you heard a noise of a burglar you'd have some chance to get a weapon but reacting to a schizo who is sitting down with you is a different story - will have to rely on hand to hand combat skills .

It looks like the worst is over now anyway, he isn't coming back into the house again and talking to him at the front door is fairly safe anyway. Will think twice before letting someone I don't know into my house again though that's for sure!

Default Scariest hour of my life ...
So I just spent the last hour 'trapped' in my own house on my own with a paranoid schizophrenic with tourettes and the memory span of a goldfish who was talking about himself being freaked out and his head is ****ed up from all the drugs he's done (not least because he does 4 grams of phet at a time) and how he flipped and totalled his car with his friends inside because voices told him to do it, how he hears voices all the time telling him to do other **** to and how he spends hours having conversations with himself in the mirror and sees himself talking back. He kept saying he never knows what he's going to do next and kept staring at me for like a minute at a time and wouldn't leave.

Awkward much? Never been so ****ing scared in my life lol - lesson, NEVER BE NICE TO A STRANGER AT YOUR FRONT DOOR!!!!!!!

And he just moved to leeds only lives down the road and knows where I live now (and I'm his only 'friend'). Sure this is going to turn out well....

There was a guy like that in my apartment building when I lived in Milwaukee. For some reason my ex thought it would be "nice" to talk to him which led to him delivering grocery store pies to our door every few days accompanied by a child-like scrawled note that usually had some incoherent jargon about how he had died in Vietnam but was still alive.

And then he tried to sell me a stereo.

Glad that chapter of my life is over, good luck sir.

reinforce your doors, double the locks, bar the windows, set up a motion activated sentry gun that recognizes friend from foe.

Hahaha, I like craziness. Makes life a little less boring but I couldn't imagine that situation myself..would probably be horrible, you wouldn't know if the voices would suddenly tell him that you're the one that caused his issues and flips out..then strangles himself in his own vomit or fall down from a chair.

It's times like these I'm glad I live in a small community. I know who the crazies are and how to avoid them.

Hmm, I'm really hoping that if me and my friends don't let him in a few times he'll back of again peacefully. He doesn't seem inherently 'bad' and is friendly in a way for the few seconds when he can remember what you're talking about and isn't twitching/talking about dark thing but just an absolute ****ing nutcase!

Hopefully it won't come to that, will be really annoying if this turns into a long-term problem. All he did was come asking for a phone charger and I started talking to him in a nice way, he asked to use my phone quickly and that was all it took to put myself in that ridiculous position.

This is it really. it's just the sheer randomness of it all. I had no clue what was coming next, whether he would hear a voice telling him to stranglee/stab me or whatever. Not a nice situation at all.

My mate came home from a night out and thought it would be funny to ring the doorbell (I texted him and told him what happened earlier in the night) and that completely freaked me out again lol as I was still on my own (this was like 2am). What a nice friend :P

if he was on drugs and that out of it, I would let it go unless he does it again. most people doing meth dont remember anything afterwords from the few people I have seen. If it seems that he really is schizophrenic and continues to come around, it would be best to call the authorities, not only for your protection but for his own good. I have an uncle who is schizophrenic and until he recently moved into a group home we would usually try to meet atleast one of his neighbors or talk to the landlord and explain the situation and give them our number to call incase he started acted really strange or if nobody saw him for several days. he is normally a very outgoing and intelligent person, verging on genius in math but if he misses his meds for a couple of days he usually gets so out of it that he literally either barricades himself in, or goes out looking for somewhere "safe" to hide. Its also not uncommon for people with schizophrenia to stop taking their meds because either they come to an unfounded realization that they are doing good and probably dont need them anymore, or they get fed up with the side effects of the meds which are quite honestly only slightly better than the disease its self. if they are not on their meds they will most likely not hurt anybody, but they often have delusions that people are after them, or they honestly believe that they may have hurt someone when in all honesty that person never existed.

on another note, when I was in college there was a guy that started sleeping in my neighbors hammock at night but would always manage to run off when we called the cops. one day he opened my door and just walked in my apartment and started talking about how angelina jolie was actually an angel here to lead the army of god against the devil. he thought that he was the only other earth bound member of the army besides her and was looking for other people to join him. at one point he took the cross on a chain around his neck and used it like a key in mid air. he then jumped back and acted like he was slamming a door shut and started screaming "did you see it, did you see it". at that point I kept him occupied while my room mate called the cops. turned out he was doing a mix of acid and meth. I can deal with people on acid, they are fairly easy to calm down or distract. meth heads on the other hand are a different group all together. i have seen a guy on meth try and rip down a wall in an apartment, and proceeded to act like nothing fazed him when he got into a fight with the guys trying to stop him. scary stuff.
