Default Going to mexico....
What's the best language program for cramming as much spanish as possible in a few months? I took 2 years in highschool but need a refresher.

Going to cancun oct 30 to nov 7. Any tips for visiting during day of the dead? Anyone been to cancun and have any tips? Going solo. Xcaret is the only must do on my list so far.

He's going to Cancun, should be fine, it's super touristy. Besides, a couple friends of mine just hitch hiked through Mexico to get to Guatemala and had no problems whatsoever.

ya cancun is definately one of the safer places to go right now. just stay away from the us border and mexico city.

me and the wife went to cancun and cozumel for our honeymoon and then hit up belize for a few days. cancun and cozumel was very used to americans and most everywhere we went people spoke english. my wife is fluent in spanish and didnt have to speak in spanish once. I use more spanish on a daily basis on job sites than I did in mexico. In belize on the other hand, the only people that spoke english were the ones that did our tour through the mayan ruins we went to, and the customs guy that told us not to go out in belize city after dark or during the day in groups smaller than 5.

Why the hell would you need to know Spanish in Cancun?

Cancun is an American business colony.

Probably for the same reason you need to know Spanish in Miami.

I feel fairly certain that for as long as we live, Mexico will never get better. Worse, probably.

If no one mentioned it, I think Rosetta Stone is the best program for learning another language.

Yeah as long as your not the area's top antidrug official for more than a day...

http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/americ...ral/index.html

Retired Gen. Mauro Enrique Tello Quiñonez, his aide and a driver were tortured before being killed, said Quintana Roo state prosecutor Bello Melchor Rodriguez y Carrillo. "The general was the most mistreated," Rodriguez said at a Tuesday night news conference monitored by El Universal newspaper. "He had burns on his skin and bones in his hands and wrists were broken."

I guess safer is a relative term.
